India: RBI further restricts PCB Kanpur for three months

Kanpur: The Reserve Bank of India has extended curbs on People's Co-operative Bank Limited, Kanpur, for three months from September 11 to December 10, this year.The bank has been under restrictions since June 10, 2020, through the directives issued under Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (AACS), said the news.

Lucknow, Sep 10 (PTI) The AIMIM on Friday offered to field gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Anasri in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, hours after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) denied ticket to him.

Earlier in the day, BSP supremo Mayawati said her party will make efforts to not field 'bahubali' (strongmen) or mafia candidates in the upcoming polls and announced that Ansari, who is lodged in a jail in Banda, will not be given a ticket from Mau again.

India: Father's alertness prevails over hospital's nurse omission

Kanpur: It was certainly a case of medical negligence. A nurse assigned the job of caring for the patients has shown her utter carelessness while administering expired glucose to a child in the  emergency ward of Kanpur Dehat District hospital.

However, the child's father timely stepped in and spotted the expiry date on the bottle. He first stopped the drip.

Later, a ruckus took place at the hospital over the pertinent issue.

Taking cognisance of the situation, District Magistrate JP Singh formed a team with Additional CMO and ADM to investigate into the matter.

India: 6-year-old raped by teen in UP's Bareilly

Bareilly (UP), Sep 9 (PTI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in a village in Nawabganj area here, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday when the girl was playing outside her house and the boy (14) took her on his cycle to a secluded place and raped her, ASP (Rural) Raj Kumar Agarwal said.

The accused fled the spot when screams of the girl attracted villagers' attention, he said.

India: A man wears veil to enter district hospital's female ward

Kanpur: In the female ward of the district hospital on Wednesday, the women noticed someone in a burqa and salwar-kurta that caused an uproar.

The person's body language raised suspicion that made the patients raise an alarm, according to the news.

A look at the toes revealed the person was a man! When the patient raised an alarm, he ran to the emergency ward.

When he was trying to scale the boundary wall, the hospital staff caught him. He was later handed over to the police to save him from the wrath of angry patients.

India: Centre, UP govt misled farmers by false promises: Lallu

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Sep 9 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu on Thursday alleged that the Centre and the state government "misled" farmers by false promises of doubling their income and prompt payment of sugarcane dues.

Addressing a Kisan Panchayat at Gola town here, while Lallu claimed that his party is committed to the cause of farmers, he accused the governments of serving interests of a few businessmen.

India: IIT-Kanpur comes fifth in overall rankings by NIRF

Kanpur: The country's top three higher education institutions in the sixth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was announced today by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. 

In the overall category, IIT-K has achieved the fifth rank with 76.50 points.

The number of Indian institutes registered for the NIRF ranking 2020 increased by 20 per cent as compared to the year 2019.

In the year 2020, as many as 3,800 institutes participated in NIRF Rankings. In 2021, the number remained at a total of 6000.
