India: UP man surrenders before police after killing daughter

Firozabad, Nov 17 (PTI) A man surrendered before police after allegedly bludgeoning to death his 22-year-old daughter with an axe in a village here, police said on Sunday.

According to Jasrana Circle Officer O P Singh, Harvesh allegedly attacked his daughter Pooja with an axe on Saturday night in Salempur Khutiana village and informed police about the incident in the morning.

India: Truck driver robbed, killed in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar, Nov 18 (PTI) Unidentified persons robbed a truck driver of Rs 1 lakh and strangled him to death in Khatoli town here, police said on Monday.

The body of Javed was found on Sunday with a belt wrapped around the neck, they said.

He had come to Muzaffarnagar where he sold tomatoes and was on the way to Amroha when the incident took place in Khatoli, police said.

A case was registered in this connection and efforts are on to identify and nab the accused, they said.

India: Metro work starts but hinders traffic movement

Kanpur: With the laying of the foundation stone of the metro by the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath here on November 15, the construction of pillar for the metro track has begun from IIT gate. The iron mesh to cover the pillar is also in progress. 

For managing the traffic rush on the road in front of IIT the metro company has employed its men to regulate the crowd. The SP (Traffic) Sushil Kumar told that vehicles parked on the road would be removed if required so adding that the policemen would also be posted in case of the demand occurs. 

India: HC reserves order on bail plea of rape accused BJP leader Chinmayanand

Allahabad, Nov 16 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Saturday reserved its order on a bail application of Swami Chinmayanand in the sexual harassment case filed against him by a law student of Saharanpur.

After hearing the counsel for Chinmayanand and the complainant, Justice Rahul Chaturvedi reserved his order on the bail plea of the former union minister.

Chinmayanand was arrested on September 21. Police had on August 27 booked him under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

India: Dalit woman gang raped, thrashed in UP's Shamli

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Nov 16 (PTI) A 30-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang raped and beaten up by four men at Ahata Gos Garh village in Shamli district here, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Thursday when the woman had gone to the fields to relieve herself.

The men dragged her to a sugarcane field and took turns to rape her, they said, adding that the victim was also beaten up when she tried to resist.

India: BHU Professor forced to quit after removing RSS flag from campus, charged

Mirzapur; 16 Nov 2019 (UMM): Prof Kiran Damle of Banaras Hindu University south campus in Mirzapur district has been booked by Police on complaint by RSS for removing the RSS flag from a ‘Shakha’ inside the university campus, and later forced to quit.

She has also been charged by the Uttar Pradesh police of "insulting religious beliefs", after the local RSS unit filed a complaint.

India: Teenage girl gangraped in UP village

Mau (UP), Nov 14 (PTI) A teenage girl was allegedly raped by three men in a village in the Ghosi area here, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on November 8, they said, adding that the 17-year-old girl had gone to her field when the three men of the same village allegedly raped her.

The family members of the girl alleged that they had approached the police with a complaint on the day of the incident itself, but the latter did not register an FIR.

India: Permission required to sell, purchase, fly drones in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (UP), Nov 14 (PTI) The Ghaziabad administration on Thursday issued orders making it mandatory to obtain its permission for buying, selling or flying drones, a senior official said.

The buyers and sellers of drones have also been instructed to get their Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) registered, Additional District Magistrate (city) Shailendra Kumar said.

Permission must be obtained from the M's office before buying or selling drones or using unregistered ones, he said.
