India: Akhilesh Yadav favours political alliance with small parties

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav ruled out alliances with bigger parties in Uttar Pradesh. 

He also made it clear that and said that the party's experience of forming ties with bigger political parties was 'not great'.

"Alliances are made in accordance with the situation. We did not have a great experience when formed alliances with big political parties."

"Now, our party will try to bring small parties in the political alliance to defeat BJP,"  he told reporters in Hamirpur district where his first leg of the rath yatra culminated on Tuesday.

India: Core courses to be revamped to make IIT-K curriculum flexible

Kanpur: The Core courses in IIT-K will be restructured to give greater flexibility to the core curriculum

The IIT-K Senate has approved the transformative steps of the Undergraduate Academic Review Committee Report 2020-21.

According to the director, IIT-Kanpur Prof Abhay Karandikar, "The revamping of the existing curriculum, introduction of courses relevant to today's changing world and the revised grading system is in continuation of our steps in this direction and line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (2020) of the government."

Indian farmers killing: Ashish Mishra sent to 3-day police custody

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Oct 11 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday got three-day remand of Union minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the violence on October 3.

"Police had demanded a 14-day remand of Ashish. They have got three-day remand from October 12 to 15," senior prosecution officer (SPO) SP Yadav told reporters.

The remand will end on October 15 morning.

India: UP policemen leave cancelled till October 18 in view of farmers programmes

Lucknow, Oct 11 (PTI) The leave of all Uttar Pradesh Police personnel has been cancelled till October 18 in view of the upcoming festivals and programmes scheduled by farmers' body Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), officials said on Monday.

"Due to festivals and programmes of SKM, all leave till October 18 are being cancelled," an order issued by Additional Director General, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar on Sunday said.

"In case of any unavoidable reasons, the police headquarters will sanction/permit leave, the order added.

India: English medium schools focus more on fee and books

Kanpur: Some schools claim of imparting quality education through the English medium continuously remind the parents of the monthly or quarterly fee.

The messages start coming every day. It looks like a daily obligation. 

It appears the schools have started the e-care system for informing about the fee deposit only. They rely more on the fiscal value than the teaching value. 

India: Akhilesh rebuffs BJP for betraying Ganga Maiyya

India: CBI takes a year to record FIR in Kanpur technician murder case

Kanpur: Following the UP government's recommendation after more than 13 months, the CBI's Lucknow unit has registered an FIR in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 28-year-old lab technician Sanjeet Yadav in Kanpur.

The government had suggested a CBI probe in August last year.The CBI, on Monday, registered a case under charges of kidnapping or abducting to murder against Rahul Yadav, who was an associate of Sanjeet, as was reported.

Sanjeet's family had alleged that Rahul was behind the murder.

Kanpur: It is Meenakshi Gupta, the sorrowed wife of late Manish Gupta, who has demanded capital punishment for the arrested police officials here on Sunday.

Talking about the matter she said that two arrested two police officials should be hanged and the other four policemen should also be arrested soon.

She did not fail to mention that her struggle against injustice should continue.

She also pointed out that she wanted that all the accused should be arrested before October 16.
