Saudi Arabia says hajj to be limited to 60,000 in kingdom

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia announced Saturday this year’s hajj pilgrimage will be limited to no more than 60,000 people, all of them from within the kingdom, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement by the kingdom comes after it ran an incredibly pared-down pilgrimage last year over the virus, but still allowed a small number of the faithful to take part in the annual ceremony.

12 June 2021; MEMO: The Moroccan House of Representatives on Friday denounced a resolution issued by the European Parliament (EP) regarding the crisis between Rabat and Madrid on the issue of immigration to the Spanish-administered city of Ceuta.

This came in a statement issued by the Moroccan Parliament following an emergency meeting with the heads of parliamentary blocs late on Thursday night.

Russian delegation to arrive in Antalya to discuss tourism issues, Turkish president says

ANKARA, June 11. /TASS/: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that he expects a Russian delegation to arrive in Antalya to discuss tourism-related issues.

"A delegation from Russia is arriving in Antalya. Issues related to tourism will be discussed. I believe that after that we will be able to quickly go on the attack in the direction of tourism," he said in Istanbul referring to the revival of international tourism in Turkey. The president did not give the expected date for the Russian delegation’s visit.

World Bank To Provide 1.1-Billion-USD Financial Support To Jordan In Fiscal 2021

AMMAN, Jun 11 (NNN-PETRA) – The World Bank Group and other partners will provide a package of over 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, in financial support to Jordan in the 2021 fiscal year, the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said yesterday.

The package includes support to Jordan’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, which aims to vaccinate 40 percent of eligible population, to achieve the target of vaccinating 75 percent of Jordanian citizens, the ministry said in a statement.

Turkey discovers new $1.2bn gold reserves

11 June 2021; MEMO: Turkey discovered around 20 tonnes of gold with a market value of $1.2 billion (10.2 billion lira) and 3.5 tonnes of silver reserves with a market value of $2.8 million in the eastern Agri province, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced yesterday.

According to reports, Varank referred to the discovery of the reserves as an important development for both Turkey and the region.

Russia to provide Iran with advanced satellite

11 June 2021; MEMO: Russia is preparing to provide Iran with an advanced satellite that would enable it to track potential military targets across the Middle East, the Washington Post reported yesterday.

The plan would deliver a Russian-made Kanopus-V satellite equipped with a high-resolution camera which could be launched from Russia within months, Reuters reported the Post saying.

Iran ships tankers containing 1.4m barrels of crude oil to Syria

11 June 2021; MEMO: A further 1.4 million barrels of Iranian crude oil is expected to arrive in Syria's Baniyas port in 24 hours, according to naval tracking firm Tanker Trackers on Thursday, Anadolu Agency reports.

"In roughly 24 hours from now, the first two out of three tankers shall arrive in Baniyas, Syria with around 1.4 million barrels of Iranian crude oil," Tanker Trackers said.

Approximately 300,000 further barrels are in the Suez, the naval tracking firm said.

Jordan and Hamas may reconcile to confront Israel
