Palestine: Hamas will support national unity government

14 Apr 2021; MEMO: A member of the Hamas Political Bureau said on Monday that the movement will support a national unity government regardless of the outcome of next month's parliamentary election. Dr Khalil Al-Hayya told Al Aqsa TV that Hamas wants to reorganise the Palestinian institutions and support such a government that works to end the internal political division under the eyes of the incoming parliament.

Kuwait orders detention of ex-PM on corruption charges

14 Apr 2021; MEMO: Kuwait's Ministerial Court yesterday ordered the pretrial detention of former Prime Minister, Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, over the alleged mishandling of military funds, local media reported.

AnadoluAgency reported a Kuwaiti legal source as saying that "the court has ordered the imprisonment of Jaber Al-Sabah, who appeared before it today, in the case of the Army Fund."

Israel: Jewish National Fund plans to buy land to expand illegal settlements

14 Apr 2021; MEMO: The Jewish National Fund (JNF) in Israel approved on Sunday plans to purchase land in the occupied West Bank to expand illegal settlements, mainly in Nablus and Jenin, Haaretz has reported. The fund is known in Hebrew as Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael and still needs to obtain final approval from its board of directors at their meeting on 22 April.

Russian FM says all U.S. sanctions against Iran must be removed

TEHRAN, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said here on Tuesday that all the U.S. sanctions against Iran should be removed unconditionally, according to official IRNA news agency.

"Our position is clear, and all sanctions against Iran should be lifted unconditionally. And I hope that by lifting sanctions on Iran, more cooperation climate will be created," Lavrov said, elaborating on Russia's position as a member of the 2015 nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on the return of the United States to the deal.

Iran to start 60-percent uranium enrichment Wednesday

TEHRAN, April 13. /TASS/: Tehran begins uranium enrichment to 60% on Wednesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated Tuesday.

According to the report, Iran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that the country plans to start the 60-percent uranium enrichment on Wednesday.

The diplomat also disclosed that Iran plans not only to replace the centrifuges damaged during the recent sabotage at the Natanz nuclear site but "to install an additional 1000 centrifuges of 50% higher enrichment capacity."

Turkey seeks detention of 84 suspects over failed coup

ISTANBUL, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday issued detention warrants for 84 suspects over their alleged links to a network accused of orchestrating a coup attempt in 2016.

Police launched simultaneous operations in 49 provinces to arrest the suspects, upon the order of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Izmir, the state-run Anadolu agency reported.

Those targeted in the operations were reportedly soldiers on active duty, expelled military personnel, and on-duty police officers.
