Iran blames 'sabotage' for blackout in nuclear site

11 Apr 2021; MEMO: An Iranian official said Sunday a power failure in the Natanz nuclear plant, near Tehran, may be the result of a "sabotage and infiltration act", according to the semi-official Fars news agency, Anadolu Agency reported.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity, without giving any further details.

Three Russians injured in Turkish bus accident remain under medical supervision - embassy

ANKARA, April 11. /TASS/: Three Russian citizens injured in a bus accident in central Turkey on Saturday remain under doctors’ supervision, the Russian Embassy in Ankara said.

As of Sunday morning, all Russian citizens, who were hurt in the traffic accident on the Konya-Aksaray highway, have received medical and psychological assistance.

Egypt Unveils Discovery Of 3,000-Year-Old “Lost Gold City” In Luxor

CAIRO, Apr 11 (NNN-MENA) – An Egyptian archaeological mission announced the discovery of a 3,000-year-old “Lost Gold City” (LGC), in Egypt’s monument-rich city of Luxor.

An Egyptian mission, headed by renowned Egyptian archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, in collaboration with Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, found the city that was lost under the sand.

The city was known as “The Rise of Aten,” dates back to the reign of Amenhotep III, and continued to be used by king Tutankhamun.

Austin makes first Israel visit by Biden official, Iran on the agenda

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin arrived in Israel on Sunday on the first visit by a senior representative of the Biden administration, whose stance on Iran has worried Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

Austin was due to meet Netanyahu and Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz during the two-day visit, which officials said would include discussions of U.S. arms supplies to Israel.

South African variant can 'break through' Pfizer vaccine, Israeli study says

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The coronavirus variant discovered in South Africa can “break through” Pfizer/BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine to some extent, a real-world data study in Israel found, though its prevalence in the country is low and the research has not been peer reviewed.

The study, released on Saturday, compared almost 400 people who had tested positive for COVID-19, 14 days or more after they received one or two doses of the vaccine, against the same number of unvaccinated patients with the disease. It matched age and gender, among other characteristics.

Iran reports 258 coronavirus deaths, highest daily toll since Dec

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran reported 258 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said on Sunday, the highest daily toll since early December.

That brings the total number of fatalities from the coronavirus to 64,490 in Iran, the worst-hit country in the Middle East.

Health ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari told state TV that 21,063 new cases were identified in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of identified cases since the pandemic began to 2,070,141.

Saudi Arabia executes 3 soldiers for high treason

RIYADH, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia executed on Saturday three soldiers for high treason crime, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The executed soldiers, identified as Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Yahya Akam, Shaher bin Isa bin Qasim Haqqawi, and Hamoud bin Ibrahim bin Ali Hazmi, collaborated with the enemy against the kingdom and its military interests, the SPA said, without mentioning which enemy they were aiding.

The execution took place after the three soldiers were convicted by the court and the issuance of a royal order that serves as a death warrant. 

Turkish president calls for peaceful, diplomatic solution to tensions in eastern Ukraine

ISTANBUL, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday called for a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the "worrying developments" in eastern Ukraine between Kiev and Moscow.

"We believe that the current crisis must be resolved peacefully by diplomatic means in line with the territorial integrity of Ukraine and international laws," Erdogan said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Istanbul.

Libyan premier, top officials to visit Turkey

11 Apr 2021; MEMO: The head of the Libyan National Unity Government will visit Turkey on Monday for talks, a government spokesperson told Anadolu Agency late Saturday.

Mohammed Hammude said a high-level delegation led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah will include five deputy prime ministers and 14 ministers, as well as the Prime Minister of the General Staff Gen. Mohammed Al-Haddad along with other officials.
