India: Efforts on to make Ayushman Bharat foolproof: PM

New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) With the government's flagship Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme completing one year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said efforts are on to make it foolproof and bring about improvements to serve the people better.

He said that according to one estimate, due to demand arising out of the scheme in the next 5-7 years, 11 lakh new jobs will be created.

India: Ashok Leyland sales dips 55 pc in Sep at 8,780 units

New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) Hinduja Group's flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Tuesday reported 55 per cent decline in its total commercial vehicle sales at 8,780 units in September.

The company had sold a total of 19,374 units in the same month last year, Ashok Leyland said in a regulatory filing.

Total commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 7,851 units as against 18,078 units in September last year, down 56.57 per cent, it said.

Important for larger bilateral relationship to have some early results on trade issues: India, US

Washington, Oct 1 (PTI) It is important for the larger India-US relationship to have some early results to address concerns on the trade issues between the two countries, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his American counterpart Mike Pompeo agreed here during a meeting.

Trade tensions between India and the US have been rising with American President Donald Trump complaining that tariffs imposed by New Delhi on American products were "no longer acceptable".

Turkey Unveils New Economic Programme With Ambitious Growth Target

ANKARA, Oct 1 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey laid out a new three-year programme to recover its economy, with ambitious targets, including a surge in growth and a slowdown in inflation.

During a presentation in the capital, Ankara, Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister, Berat Albayrak, said, consumer price growth forecast has been revised to an annual 12 percent, at the end of this year, from 15 percent in Aug. Last year’s government predictions were 15.9 percent for 2019.

Qatar, Jordan Discuss Initiative To Offer 10,000 Jobs For Jordanians

Iran, Turkey Seek Partnership In Auto Industry

TEHRAN, Sept 30 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iran and Turkey are in talks, to set up an automotive joint venture, Eghtesadonline news website quoted an Iranian deputy minister of the industry ministry as saying.

The two sides are working on a deal that envisages the joint production of passenger vehicles, Hossein Modarres said.

“As soon as the terms and conditions of the agreement are finalised, the project will be launched,” Modarres said.

Chinese scientists develop 500 megapixel 'super camera'

Dubbed the 'super camera', Chinese scientists have developed a 500 megapixel camera that can identify individuals from crowds of tens of thousands of people. Camera was unveiled by researchers at China's International Industry Fair last week.

The facial recognition camera offers four times more detailed than the human eye, and can identify individuals from crowds of tens of thousands in streets or at sports stadiums.
