Israel bans Jerusalem sheikh from entering Al-Aqsa, West Bank

29 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation authorities yesterday released the Deputy Director-General of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Council, Sheikh Najeh Bakirat, on condition of deportation from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied West Bank.

The Safa news agency reported, Bakirat saying: "I was released on oppressive conditions –banned from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for 20 days and from entering into the occupied West Bank for 30 days."

Hamas insists Israeli soldiers will not be released without prisoner deal

29 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation soldiers captured in the besieged Gaza Strip will not be released without a deal to release Palestinian political prisoners held by Israel, the Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said on Sunday.

Haniyeh made his comments in an interview with the international Arab Forum for Solidarity with Detainees in Israeli Jails during which he stressed that the issue of Palestinian detainees is a top priority for Hamas and the Palestinian resistance groups.

Palestine: PA condemns Israeli president's 'storming' of Ibrahimi Mosque

29 Nov 2021; MEMO: The senior religious adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the visit by Israel's President Isaac Herzog to Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied Palestinian city of Hebron. Given that Herzog was accompanied by Israeli soldiers, it is being reported that he "stormed" into the mosque, much of which has been commandeered by Israel for use by illegal settlers.

EU: 'Time running out for two-state solution with Israel'

27 Nov 2021; MEMO: The European Union (EU) has criticised Israel's continuous settlement construction and warned that time is running out for the two-state solution with Israel.

On Friday, EU Representative to the Palestinian Authority Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff confirmed that the Israeli settlement plans defy international law and destabilise the status quo.

Palestine Condemns Israel For Approving Settlement Units Building In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Nov 27 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine yesterday condemned Israel, for approving the construction of 372 settlement units in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

The Israeli move “is an extension of the process of deepening and expanding illegal settlements in the heart of the old city of Hebron,” said the Palestinian foreign ministry.

The “provocative” move came, just a few days after the Israeli approval of building 11,000 units on the lands of the defunct Qalandia Airport in East Jerusalem, also known as the Jerusalem International Airport, said the ministry.

Israel stalls plans to build 9,000 settlement units in occupied Jerusalem

26 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation authorities appear to have stalled plans to build 9,000 settlement units on the site of the deserted Qalandia Airport in the occupied West Bank, according to a rights group.

Peace Now activist, Hagit Ofran, said a district planning committee meeting at which the project was expected to be approved has been cancelled, meaning "the plan is off the table for now."

This comes after a local committee had voted in support of it on Wednesday.

Palestinians favour a one-state over a two-state solution: Poll

26 Nov 2021; MEMO: Palestinians in Israeli occupied West Bank favour one bi-national state over a two-state solution, a new opinion poll conducted by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Centre (JMCC) shows. Support for the international status quo is losing ground, in favour of a solution based on equal rights for the 12 million people in historic Palestine, found the survey conducted in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), a foundation associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany.

Palestine: Jewish Settlers place menorah on Jerusalem mosque roof

Jewish settlers today placed a big menorah on the roof of the Palestinian Nabi Samuel village mosque in occupied northern-western Jerusalem, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

One of the local residents said settlers, escorted by members of a Jewish temple group, put the candelabrum on the mosque's roof. This comes as part of Jewish preparations to mark Hanukkah, the festival of lights.

The illegal Israeli Separation Wall has isolated the Palestinian village of Nabi Samuel from surrounding Palestinian villages.
