31 Oct 2019; MEMO: A high-level European Union (EU) delegation yesterday arrived in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, intending to support the transitional government, Anadolu Agency has reported.

“The purpose of the visit is to continue the dialogue with the Sudanese government and support, as well as the political and civil forces in Sudan and how the EU can support them in these fixes of momentous change,” the EU mission said in a statement.

31 Oct 2019; MEMO: As many as 10,000 Sudanese soldiers withdrew from Yemen. They returned to their country, Deputy Head of the Sovereign Council of Sudan and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has declared.

Dagalo’s remarks were reported yesterday by an anti former regime newspaper, Al-Tayyar, which quoted well-informed sources as saying. The Sudanese newspaper did not name the sources.

KHARTOUM, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations (UN) on Sunday voiced commitment to support the transitional government in Sudan to achieve democracy, economic recovery and peace.

Sudan and the UN on Sunday celebrated UN Day 2019 in the capital Khartoum. UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945.

25 Oct 2019; MEMO: Sudan’s Attorney General, Taj Al-Sir Ali Al-Habr, met with the delegation of the Darfur Bar Association (DBA) to discuss the extradition of ousted President Omar Al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and transitional justice.

KHARTOUM, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese army on Sunday accused an armed group in Darfur region of violating the cease-fire declared by Sudan's government, according to the army's statement.

"On Oct. 17, forces of the Sudan's Liberation Movement (SLM) led by Abdul-Wahid Nur attacked positions of our forces at Brobas area, some 8 km northeast of Kara area in Darfur," said the Sudanese army in a statement on Sunday.

"Our forces exchanged fire with the attackers and repulsed them," added the statement.

KHARTOUM, Sept 27 (NNN-AFRICANEWS) — Sudan’s transitional government ordered the immediate closure of the nation’s borders with Libya and Central African Republic, citing security and economic “dangers”.

A statement on Thursday by the Sovereign Transitional Council said vehicles had been illegally crossing the borders with the two nations, which have both been mired in violence.

The council did not give further details about what the “dangers” were.

KHARTOUM, Sudan, Sept 23 (NNN-SUNA) – Sudan’s new prime minister has formed a committee, to probe an armed June crackdown on a weeks-long protest camp in Khartoum, that killed and wounded hundreds of demonstrators, state media reported.

Shortly before dawn on June 3, gunmen in military fatigues raided the sit-in, outside army headquarters in the capital, shooting and beating protesters in an operation that shocked international observers.

KHARTOUM, Sept 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) — French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that France will press to drop Sudan from the US blacklist of state sponsors of terrorism and to support efforts to reintegrate the country into the international community.

Le Drian was in Khartoum for a one-day visit on Monday, the first such trip to Sudan by France’s top diplomat in more than a decade.

His visit comes as the northeast African country transitions to civilian rule after decades of authoritarianism.

KHARTOUM, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's ruling Sovereign Council on Tuesday announced that it is closer to reaching a comprehensive peace deal with the armed groups during the talks in South Sudan's capital Juba.

"The two parties to Juba talks have agreed on most of the outstanding issues between them," said the council in a press release.

South Sudan is currently hosting talks between Sudan's Sovereign Council and leaders of armed groups in Sudan's Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions, under a mediation initiative by South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
