07 Feb 2020; MEMO: Leader of the Sudanese National Umma Party, Sadiq Al-Mahdi, renewed his party’s rejection of any kind of normalisation with Israel, stressing that the ideas that Tel Aviv can help lift US sanctions on Khartoum is a “big illusion”.

Al-Mahdi said in a press conference held at his party’s headquarters in the city of Omdurman: “We reject normalisation with Israel, as it is harmful to Arab, Muslim and Palestinian interests,” reported Sudanese website Ahdath Al-Yom.

KHARTOUM, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said his meeting with the Israeli prime minister was in the interests of the country.

"Al-Burhan said his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Sudan's supreme interests and that it was with the knowledge of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok," Sudanese army spokesman Brig. Amer Mohamed al-Hassan said during a press conference in Khartoum on Wednesday.

05 Feb 2020; MEMO: Scores of Sudanese people yesterday protested outside the government’s headquarters in the capital, Khartoum, after revelations that a secret meeting was held between Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu,  on Monday.

KHARTOUM, Feb 4 (NNN-SUNA) – Sudan’s transitional government said, it was not informed of a meeting between the African country’s leader and Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyanu, in which the two leaders agreed to normalise relations.

Government spokesman, Faisal Mohamed Salih said, the cabinet was waiting for Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to return from Uganda, where he met Netanyahu.

“We received the news about the meeting through the media,” Salih said in a statement.

KHARTOUM, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's government on Sunday signed a peace agreement with two opposition groups from northern Sudan, according to the Sovereign Council in a statement.

The two groups from North Sudan - Kush Movement and Northern Entity - are parts of Sudan's opposition Revolutionary Front Alliance.

The agreement was signed in Juba, capital of South Sudan, which is patronizing the negotiations between the Sudanese factions.

KHARTOUM, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok on Wednesday vowed to bring those involved in murder and genocide to justice.

"Justice will be achieved. The law will take its course on all killers," said Hamdok while addressing a rally marking the first anniversary of Sudan's December protests.

"War crimes and genocide do not drop due to statute of limitations. We will work to ensure that all criminals are tried and that dignity is restored to the families of the victims," he added.

KHARTOUM, Dec 24 (NNN-Xinhua) — Sudan and South Sudan on Monday signed an agreement to extend an oil deal and related economic arrangements until March 2022, official SUNA news agency reported.

The agreement, signed in Khartoum, stipulates that South Sudan pays 26 U.S. dollars for each oil barrel passing through the Sudanese pipeline operator, Petrolines for Crude Oil Ltd. which belongs to the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company, and 24.1 dollars for each oil barrel transported through Bashayer Pipeline Company which belongs to Petrodar Operating Company.

WASHINGTON, Dec 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The United States lifted fast-changing Sudan from a blacklist for religious freedom violations as it issued warnings to Nigeria, Cuba and Nicaragua.

Sudan was the only nation removed from the State Department’s annual list of “countries of particular concern,” which are subject to sanctions if they do not better protect religious liberty.

Civilian economist Abdalla Hamdok became Sudan’s prime minister in September, pledging national reconciliation after decades of military rule and conflict.

16 Dec 2019; MEMO: Sudan has withdrawn some of its forces from the Saudi-led alliance of Arab states in Yemen handing over its positions in the west coast to the government’s joint forces, Yemeni media outlets reported.

Sudanese forces evacuated their positions in western Yemen after completing their mission and following Sudanese assurances that the troops were not involved in combat missions, the reports said.
