Russian military hands over foodstuffs to Syrian residents near Aleppo

ALEPPO /Syria/, February 21. /TASS/: Russian servicemen have distributed 250 food packages to the residents of Syria’s Shukaidila village, in the Aleppo Governorate, Spokesman for the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring in Syria Dmitry Zadorin reported on Sunday.

Many residents of this village have been involved in clashes with the militants who are still nearby, he told reporters.

Three Rockets Hit Airbase In Iraq’s Salahudin Province: Local Source

BAGHDAD, Feb 21 (NNN-NINA) – Three Katyusha rockets, yesterday landed on an Iraqi military airbase, in Iraq’s Salahudin province, a provincial security source said.

The attack took place in the evening, when the Katyusha rockets landed in Balad airbase, some 90 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Mohammed al-Bazi, from the provincial police, said.

One of the rockets struck a building, used by a company contracting with U.S. forces at the base, causing damage to the building and wounding an Iraqi civilian, working for the company, al-Bazi, said.

Sudan and Ethiopia trade accusations in border conflict

KHARTOUM/ADDIS ABABA, Feb 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Sudan accused Ethiopia of an “unforgivable insult” in its sharpest statement since a decades-old border dispute flared late last year.

Clashes erupted between Sudanese and Ethiopian forces over Al-Fashqa, an area of fertile land settled by Ethiopian farmers that Sudan says lies on its side of a border demarcated at the start of the 20th century, which Ethiopia rejects.

Turkey wants to strengthen cooperation with US: Erdogan

21 Feb 2021; MEMO: The Turkish president on Saturday said that Ankara is keen to "strengthen" cooperation with Washington following the inauguration of Joe Biden as the new US president, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We want to further strengthen our cooperation with the new US administration on a win-win basis in the long term," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a video message sent to an event which marked the launch of a TV channel by the Turkish American National Steering Committee or TASC.

Rockets hit Iraq military base hosting NATO troops

21 Feb 2021; MEMO: A rocket attack hit a military base hosting NATO troops in Iraq, local media reported on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reports.

Three foreign contracted personnel were injured when three rockets struck the Balad Air Base in the Salah al-Din province, north of the capital Baghdad, according to Iraqi media.

The Iraqi government has not made any statement over the attacks.

Sudan's Central Bank floats currency

21 Feb 2021; MEMO: Sudan's Central Bank said Sunday it had partially floated the currency and announced a new regime to unify the official and black market exchange rates, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a statement, the bank said the "decision aims to unify and stabilize the exchange rate, transfer resources from the parallel market to the official market, and attract remittances from Sudanese working abroad through formal channels."
