Erdogan warns EU of 'strategic blindness' regarding East Mediterranean

08 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Turkey's president has warned the EU to "get rid of its strategic blindness" over the issues with Greece and Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean, international news agencies reported on Monday. Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the bloc not to be used by Greece and Cyprus to target his country.

Israel 'whitewashing' crime after soldier cleared of shooting 9-year-old Palestinian boy

08 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Israeli authorities have said that the case of nine-year-old Palestinian boy, Malik Eissa, who was shot in the eye was "sad" but there was insufficient evidence to prosecute anyone even though eyewitnesses claim that occupation soldiers had opened fire as Malik got of the school bus.

Turkey to never compromise its sovereign rights in E.Med: Foreign Ministry

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Turkey will not compromise its sovereign rights on the island of Meis, or airspace covering 10 nautical miles, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday according to a report by Anadolu Agency.

"No sanctions will ever make Turkey compromise its sovereign rights be in Meis/Kastellorizo or 10 nm airspace," the ministry said on Twitter in response to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias' article against Turkey.

Algerian airline resumes domestic flights after shutdown for over 8 months

ALGIERS, Dec 7 (NNN-Xinhua) — Algeria’s flag carrier airline Air Algeria Sunday resumed domestic flights after more than eight months of shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the official APS news agency reported.

A total of 23 planes of the national airline took off from Algiers airport to various destinations on Sunday, according to APS.

It added that the General Directorate for National Security has taken a series of security and preventive measures for the resumption of domestic flights.

Israel criminals heading to the UAE: Senior police officer

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Impersonating themselves as businessmen, heads of Israeli criminal groups have recently started shifting their activities to the UAE, Anadolu reported yesterday.

According to the news service, Israel's Channel 12 TV quoting a senior Israeli police officer saying that the heads of criminal groups operate via agents or travelled themselves to complete deals worth tens of millions of dollars.

France's Karabakh resolution is a 'disaster': Erdogan

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  The Turkish president on Saturday termed a French parliament resolution on Upper Karabakh a "complete disaster."

"The decision taken the previous day in the parliament of France, the co-chair of the [OSCE] Minsk Group, is a complete disaster beyond the scandal," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening ceremony of a newly built motorway in eastern Turkey via video link.

Gulf states to meet for reconciliation with Qatar

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Reconciliation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain was due to take place during the summit of Gulf States to be held in Bahrain this month, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported yesterday.

According to the paper, which reported a diplomatic source, the reasons behind the three-year long dispute are to be discussed through committees which are being formed in an effort to find a solution  that would ensure the crisis is not renewed and to unite Gulf States.

Muslim Brotherhood does not rule out change in Egypt, region with Biden administration

07 Dec 2020; MEMO:  Deputy Supreme Guide of Muslim Brotherhood, Ibrahim Munir, said on Saturday he does not rule out change in Egypt and the region when US President-elect Joe Biden moves into the White House, Anadolu reported.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Mubasher, Munir said that economic woes and COVID-19 "could push for a change", but this needs "calm and rearrangement", adding that the human rights issue in Egypt could be a third factor for the potential change.

Iran’s IRGC Says “Satellite-Guided Instruments” Used In Assassination Of Nuke Scientist

TEHRAN, Dec 7 (NNN-IRNA) – Satellite-guided equipment has been used in the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced, yesterday.

“Advanced electronic instruments, guided by satellite, were used in the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh,” the IRGC spokesman, Ramezan Sharif, was quoted as saying, by Press TV.

Fakhrizadeh died of severe injuries in hospital, on Nov 27, after an ambush on his vehicle in Absard village, 60 km north-east of Tehran.
