Qatar calls on UN Security Council to condemn illegal blockade

27 Nov 2020; MEMO: Qatar called on Thursday on the United Nations (UN) Security Council to condemn the "unilateral, coercive and illegitimate measures that the blockading countries continue to impose" on Doha for over three years.

The Qatari Permanent Representative to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Al-Thani said that the blockading countries continue to impose forceful measures against Doha, despite proven to be unlawful.

Sudan evacuates stranded citizens in Tigray region

27 Nov 2020; MEMO: The Sudanese authorities announced on Thursday the evacuation of stranded citizens in the Ethiopian Tigray region, in light of the violent battles between the federal government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed in a statement that it: "Continually supervises the conditions of the Sudanese citizens in the Tigray region."

Iraq trains US-sanctioned militia leader for army position: Official sources

27 Nov 2020; MEMO: The Iraqi military is training a former member of an Iran-backed militia, who is under US sanctions for killing protesters, to become a high-ranking officer in the army, according to six government, security and militia officials, Reuters reports.

They said that Hussein Falih Aziz, known as Abu Zainab al-Lami, had been sent to Egypt with Iraqi officers for a year-long training normally reserved for the country's military personnel.

Iran says U.S. sanctions affect battle against COVID-19

TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. anti-Iran sanctions have imposed adverse effects on the country's fight against COVID-19, Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations said on Thursday.

"Iran is currently facing the toughest sanctions ever imposed on any country, and these limitations have severely hampered our efforts to combat the COVID-19," Majid Takht Ravanchi said, reported by semi-official Fars news agency.

Bahrain's industry minister meets Israeli delegation

26 Nov 2020; MEMO: Bahrain's industry minister on Wednesday met with the chairman of Israel's trade promotion agency and the chief executive of Israel's largest bank Hapoalim, Reuters reports.

The Gulf kingdom's state news agency reported Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani met with International Cooperation Institute Chairman Adiv Baruch and other members of a visiting Israeli trade delegation.

Netanyahu promises 'the best medical treatment in the world' to Pollard's wife

26 Nov 2020; MEMO: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to offer the best medical care to Esther Pollard, the wife of the Jewish spy who was paroled after 30 years in US prisons, Jonathan Pollard, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

Israeli Ynet News disclosed that Pollard's wife is undergoing medical treatment in New York for cancer, pointing out that Netanyahu promised first-class medical care for her.
