Colorado school closes for week after shooting

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (AP) - A suburban Denver school where two gunmen opened fire, killing a teenager and wounding eight others, will be closed for the remainder of the week.

Douglas County School District officials made the announcement in an email Tuesday night and said crisis counselors would be available to all STEM School Highlands Ranch students, staff and families at a nearby church Wednesday.

Putin to hold talks with Austrian president on May 15

Nearly 340 people detained in Venezuela during protests

CARACAS, May 7. /TASS/: Venezuela's law enforcers have detained over 330 people in protests that started on April 30, head of the non-governmental organization Penal Forum (Foro Penal) Alfredo Romero said on Tuesday.

"Since April 30, 338 people were detained during protests for political reasons," Union Radio quoted Romero as saying.

Romero noted that there are currently 857 political prisoners in Venezuela.

Last launch of Glonass-M satellite scheduled for 2020

MOSCOW, May 8. /TASS/: The launch of the last Glonass-M satellite is planned for 2020, and the last Glonass-K spacecraft will be sent into space in 2023, according to the Strategy of GLONASS Development until 2030.

Five satellites will be delivered to the orbit by rocket carriers in 2020 - one Glonass-M, one Glonass-K2 and three Glonass-K satellites. "The last Glonass-M satellite No 61 will be delivered to the orbit by the Soyuz rocket carrier in the second quarter of 2020," the document said.

In 2021, three Glonass-K satellites will be delivered to the orbit.

Google promises better privacy tools, smarter AI assistant

8 May 2019 (AP) - Pregnancy-related deaths are rising in the United States and the main risk factor is being black, according to new reports that highlight racial disparities in care during and after childbirth.

Black women, along with Native Americans and Alaska natives, are three times more likely to die before, during or after having a baby, and more than half of these deaths are preventable, Tuesday’s report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concludes.
