Explosion At Gas Station Rocked Yemen’s Capital

SANAA, Sept 4 (NNN-SABA) – A massive explosion rocked a gas station, in the Houthi-controlled Yemen’s capital of Sanaa last night, igniting a significant fire, reported by authorities and witnesses.

The blast occurred at the Mufazer gas station, which is situated in front of the al-Khurafi military camp, in the north-eastern part of the capital. Houthi forces cordoned off the area, with civil defence teams swiftly responding to the incident.

SANAA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- A massive explosion rocked a gas station in the Houthi-controlled Yemen's capital of Sanaa on Sunday night, igniting a significant fire, reported by authorities and witnesses.

The blast occurred at the Mufazer gas station, which is situated in front of the al-Khurafi military camp in the northeastern part of the capital. Houthi forces cordoned off the area, with civil defense teams swiftly responding to the incident.

Huge Fire Destroys 70 IDP Tents In Yemen’s Marib

SANAA, Aug 29 (NNN-SABA) – A huge fire has destroyed 70 tents, in a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), in Yemen’s central province of Marib, local authorities said, yesterday.

The fire occurred Sunday evening in the Al-Faw camp, which is situated in the eastern sector of the province’s eponymous capital.

The fire lasted till night, before the civil defence teams managed to put it out. There were no casualties as the displaced managed to flee the fire, according to local authorities.

Unknown Gunmen Kidnapped Two Foreign Aid Workers In Central Yemen

ADEN, Aug 29 (NNN-SABA) – Unknown gunmen kidnapped two foreigners working with the international charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF), in Yemen’s central province of Marib yesterday, a security official said.

The local security official, who asked to remain anonymous, said, the foreigners held captive by the unknown gunmen are identified as nationals from Germany and Myanmar, both serving under the MSF banner.

Landmine Blast Killed Two In Yemen’s Red Sea Port City

SANAA, Aug 24 (NNN-SABA) – Two people were killed yesterday, in a landmine explosion in Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, Yemen’s Ministry of Human Rights said in a statement.

The landmine exploded when the two civilians walked over it, on the side of a road in the al-Hayet area, in the southern district of al-Durayhimi, killing them on the spot.

Hodeidah witnessed a shaky cease-fire between Yemeni government forces and the Houthi militia, since they reached a UN-sponsored truce in Stockholm in Dec, 2018.

Omani Delegation To Hold Cease-Fire Talks With Yemen’s Houthis In Sanaa

SANAA, Aug 18 (NNN-SABA) – An Omani delegation arrived in Yemen’s rebel-held capital, Sanaa yesterday, in a bid to persuade the Houthi group to accept a UN proposal, for resuming a truce with the Yemeni government, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.

The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with top Houthi leaders in the coming hours, the television channel said, without elaborating further.

Gunmen Killed Yemeni Criminal Investigation Officer In S. Province

ADEN, Aug 16 (NNN-SABA) – Unidentified gunmen opened fire and killed a senior officer of Yemen’s government forces, in the country’s south-western province of Taiz yesterday, a government official said.

The official, who asked to remain anonymous, said that, Adnan Al-Muhya, an officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was gunned down by masked assailants, in the Al-Jamhouri residential neighbourhood.

Yemeni Authorities Arrested 12 Over Killing Of WFP Employee

ADEN, Jul 23 (NNN-SABA) – Yemeni security forces detained 12 suspects yesterday, in an operation to track down perpetrators who had shot dead an employee of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) a day earlier, a government official said.

Meanwhile, the security forces’ search operation was still underway to find those who masterminded the drive-by shooting attack, the official said.
