India: Congress organises 'BJP gaddi chhodo' march in UP

Lucknow, Aug 9 (PTI) The Congress in Uttar Pradesh on Monday organised a state-wide 'BJP gaddi chhodo' march on the occasion of August Kranti Diwas.

The Congress workers marched for about 4 kms in all the 403 assembly constituencies in the state.

The party claimed that during the march, police tried to thwart the programme by arresting Congress workers in most of the districts.

India: Trains put brakes as wet tracks stopped signalling system

Kanpur: Several trains did not move due to waterlogged tracks on the Delhi-Howrah route. The Signal Operating System thus stopped functioning. 

Owing to heavy rains on Monday, Rajadhani Express, Toofan Express, Durg Express, Lucknow Shatabdi, and Delhi bound trains stood standstill.

According to available reports, Durg Express halted at Kanpur Central for about two hours. Likewise, other trains too got affected.

The trains that were stopped at the outer line led the passengers anguished. 

India: DM says schools no to fee hike during online classes

Kanpur: In his order issued to the school directors, the district magistrate said that action would be taken against the schools if there was received a complaint regarding the fee hike during the online classes.

It was further stated if any school has taken hiked fee it would be adjusted in the next month's fee.

The school management has also been told not to accept fee under the library, laboratory and other heads.

India: DGP opens police hospital with upgraded facilities in Kanpur

Kanpur: Equipped with advanced healthcare infrastructure a police hospital was inaugurated here. Its upgraded facilities were structured to provide treatment.

Inaugurating the hospital here on Sunday, the DGP lauded the efforts in this regard.

Strings of amplified amenities for the hospital's isolation wards were included. A few more beds with oxygen equipment were also extended to the patients.

There were also given the facilities like the Covid testing, vaccination and OPD.

India: Two minors raped in separate incidents in UP

Fatehpur (UP), Aug 8 (PTI) Two minor girls were allegedly raped here in separate incidents, police said on Sunday.

Both the incidents had taken place under Kotwali police station, they said, adding that both the accused have been arrested.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station Satyendra Singh said that a 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl after luring her on the pretext of marriage.

India: TGT examinees' crowd noticed despite 30% absentees in Kanpur

Kanpur: Thirty per cent of examinees remained absent on Saturday's Trained Graduate Teacher examinations held in two different shifts. The examinations continued on Sunday. 

As many as eleven examination centres were designated in the district. In the first shift, a total of 13% of examinees were found to be absent while in the second shift 17% of examinees did not appear.

It means that as many as 553 examinees were absent in the first shift while as many as 931 remained absent in the second shift.

India: Girl raped by teenage boys in UP's Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh (UP), Aug 6 (PTI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two teenage boys in a village in Nawabganj area here, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday when the girl was playing outside her house and two teenagers (ages 14 and 15) took her to a secluded place and raped her, Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Mishra said.

Later, the girl reached home and told her family members about the incident after which they registered an FIR in this connection.

India: Fee dues remain on school's priority during online classes

Kanpur: Fee dues remain on the priority of the schools running online classes up to class 8. Almost every morning a message for depositing the monthly fee comes to the parents.This has become a regular practice.

Once, as elders point out, teaching used to be a responsibility of the school whether vernacular or English medium. But now the fee collection is the most calculated affection for the schools.

Parents do deposit the fee month after month but they falter owing to their fiscal limitations.

India: Flooded Pandu river concerns people in Kanpur

Kanpur: Rise in Pandu river has sent the water level of Ganga swelling which in turn has submerged several villages around the river.

Farmers are badly hit by the Friday showers as their crops have been destroyed. The villagers are compelled to move to safer places.
