Eggs' consumption goes down owing to Coronavirus

KANPUR: Just to test the price of eggs, the consumers bought one complete crate and it was available at a much lesser price. It proved to a degree that there was ample consequence of the coronavirus on the consumption of the essential commodities in our daily lives.

At one stockist in Jajmau area, one crate of 30-count eggs were available below one hundred. 

The fear of coronavirus has definitely restricted the people to consume the egg and as a result, the demand has decreased. This has brought the price down, this trend reflects in the open market.

India: Fake hand sanitiser factory busted in Lucknow

Lucknow, Mar 17 (PTI) A factory manufacturing fake hand sanitisers was busted by district administration officials here on Tuesday, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Lucknow administration and drug administration department conducted a raid at Mahalakshmi Chemicals in Nishatganj locality and recovered 10,000 bottles, 100 ml each, of fake sanitisers, said a senior official.

India: Doctor and engineer arrested for robbing trader in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 17 (PTI) A doctor and an engineer were arrested on charges of robbery in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Tuesday.

They were arrested on Monday for allegedly robbing a trader last week. The accused have confessed of having robbed petrol pump owners in the past, according to police.

Police said they have recovered the Rs 1,30,000 robbed from the trader at gun point from his shop.

India: UP extends Corona 'shutdown' till April 2

Lucknow, Mar 17 (PTI) To contain the coronavirus spread, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday extended the closure of all educational institutions, cinemas, mulitplexes and tourists places in the state till April 2.

Briefing reporters here after a meeting of the UP Cabinet, minister Shrikant Sharma said, "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all schools, colleges and educational institutes will remain closed till April 2."

Surgical masks distributed among devouts at Jajmau

KANPUR: There is no let-up in the impending crisis of deadly coronavirus. Even the welfare bodies and the philanthropists or good Samaritans are coming forward to distribute the surgical masks to everyone. 

On Tuesday afternoon, one God-fearing man distributed mask to every devout (namazi) coming out of the mosque in Jajmau area here.

Everyone was provided with the ready-made mask as an immediate safety cover.  Even the little children were also got one or two pieces of the mask.

India: Senior students appear at exams, juniors relax under corona fear

KANPUR: Scare of coronavirus has impacted on the people's minds so much that they are checking their wards to appear at the examinations. They have begun to fear the situation that has worsened. It is being advised to not to remain present at the place where more than fifty people gather at a time.

At the first instance, it was found that one father-in-law was advising his daughter-in-law to avoid going to college appear at examination. It appeared odd to others as to why has he restricting her to appear at the second-year examinations? 

India: KU B.Com II examinations date remains unchanged

KANPUR: As the closure of educational institutions were announced owing to the coronavirus spreading fast, the examinees appearing at Kanpur University desired to know whether the scheduled date of their B. Com. Part II examinations has been postponed. But nothing as such has taken place, according to the available information.

The examinations are going to be held from Monday( March 16).

Commonly examinees attempt to gain some extra time prior to the examination day and this very urge makes them feel so.
