India: Kanpur denizens painfully facing heat of summer in April

Kanpur: The heat wave is going to increase further in the coming days. Today's weather records at maximum temperature of 42° Celsius. The real feel goes even at 47 degrees Celsius after 3.30 p.m.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding this.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Kanpur on Friday was 17.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 40.5 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, till April 12, the effect of heat waves will be seen.

India: Missing girl found dead in car outside UP ashram

Gonda (UP), Apr 8 (PTI) The body of a 13-year-old missing girl was found on Friday in a car parked outside an ashram, built by supporters of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, police said here.

The deceased, a resident of Bimaur village, was reported missing on Thursday, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivraj Prajapati said.

After the victim's family filed a missing complaint, a team was deployed to investigate the matter, the ASP said.

Kanpur Dehat police slap Goonda Act against victim's minor brother

Kanpur: The Kanpur Dehat police slapped Goonda Act on the minor brother of a 17-year-old girl who consumed poison after months of alleged harassment by a youth in Rajpur town of Kanpur Dehat district.

After her suicide bid two days ago, the girl is reportedly battling for life at the LLR hospital here.

India: Underground work on Kanpur Metro Sec-1 moves on top-down format

Kanpur: Work on the underground section-I of the Kanpur Metro is being progressed in a top-down format.

This hints at the construction of the top level is being done first and the downward levels will be built accordingly.

To put it simply, the construction of the concourse level and then the platform level will begin only after the roof slab is done and the road barricades are reduced.

The plan will permit the vehicles to move smoothly on the road while the construction of the lower grounds continues side by side. 

India: Police officer slaps youth for pestering girl in Kanpur

Kanpur: A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, with a senior police officer here thrashing a youth harassing a girl.

The police officer said that it would act as a deterrent for those indulging in such kind of crimes.

The incident took place near Merchant Chambers at the Civil Lines in Gwaltoli area here.

A youth allegedly followed a girl and harassed her, said Additional DCP (West) Brajesh Srivastava said on Thursday.

ACP (Colonelganj) Tirpurari Pandey stopped the youth and slapped him repeatedly amidst the public, he said.

India: BJP MLA's son booked in robbery, assault case in UP's Ayodhya

Ayodhya (UP), Apr 6 (PTI) Police here have booked a BJP MLA's son in a robbery and assault case, according to an official.

The FIR was lodged in the Kotwali city police station of Faizabad on a complaint filed by Shyam Bahadur Singh, a resident of Ramnagar village in the Khandasa police station area of the district.

India: Valuables worth Rs 1.75 crore missing from 6 more lockers in Kanpur bank

Kanpur: Six more customers of Central Bank of India (Karachi Khana branch) here reported that their valuables worth ₹1.75 crore were missing from their lockers.

They checked pockets after information about the theft of ₹80 lakh jewellery from three other lockers over the past two months.

As of now, nine such cases have come to fore - five of them in the last 48 hours.

Some of the bank employees have been called for questioning. We are probing into the case and there will be a breakthrough, said Veer Pal, SHO (Pheelkhana).

India: IIT-Kanpur terminates 54 students over poor educational feat

Kanpur: IIT-Kanpur administration has resolved to terminate 54 students from the institute for failing to perform well in academics and also for a few other reasons. 

However, the Director of IIT, Prof. Abhay Karandikar said that "the students will be given a chance to appeal against their termination.

The decision was taken in the senate meeting held on campus on Wednesday.

After the action, there is a sense of stir on the campus among the students.

India: Disciple allegedly accuses her family of conspiring against Guru

Kanpur: Chidanandamayi, the alleged victim of sexual abuse who became a disciple of Prakhar Maharaj, addressed the media on the matter today. While defending her guru, she has accused her own parents of conspiring.

She has denied the sexual abuse and rejected being held hostage forcefully. The disciple has demanded protection from the administration, stating the threat to her life from her family members.

She said that she will go to the High Court demanding action for her safety from her family.

India: UP govt unveils its 100-day action plan

Lucknow, Apr 5 (PTI) Asserting that Uttar Pradesh has huge potential for development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said his government's aim is to make it the number one state in the country.

At the presentation of a 100-day action plan of the government, the chief minister said that a comprehensive framework should be made for achieving this target, according to an official release issued here.

He asked all departments to prepare a detailed and practical action plan by setting the targets for 100 days, six months and a year.
