CAIRO, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Hamas said on Saturday it has lost contact with a group responsible for five Israeli hostages being held captive in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli bombardment.

The Palestinian Islamist group believes the hostages were killed during an Israeli raid, Abu Ubaida, the spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas, al-Qassam Brigades, was quoted as saying in a statement on the group's Telegram channel.

Reuters was not able to verify the report and there was no immediate response from the Israeli authorities.

CAIRO (AP) — A boat carrying dozens of migrants trying to reach Europe capsized off the coast of Libya, leaving more than 60 people dead, including women and children, the U.N. migration agency said.

Saturday’s shipwreck was the latest tragedy in this part of the Mediterranean Sea, a key but dangerous route for migrants seeking a better life in Europe. Thousands have died, according to officials.

CAIRO, Dec 15 (Reuters) - A cameraman for Al Jazeera was killed by a drone strike on Friday while reporting on the earlier bombing of a school used as a shelter for displaced people in the southern Gaza Strip, the Arabic broadcaster said.

Cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was unable to get to safety or medical treatment after being injured in the strike on the Farhana School in Khan Younis and died of his wounds before ambulances were allowed in the area, Al Jazeera said.

CAIRO, December 9. /TASS/: The Egyptian and Russian presidents, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Vladimir Putin, have discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and the issues of delivery of humanitarian assistance to the enclave in a telephone conversation, and they also agreed on continued efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Palestinian sector, the Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

He made the appeal on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

CAIRO, Nov 24 (Reuters) - A future Palestinian state could be demilitarised and have a temporary international security presence to provide guarantees to both it and to Israel, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Friday.

CAIRO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The first truck loaded with about 25,000 liters of fuel crossed the Egyptian side of Rafah crossing on Wednesday en route to the Gaza Strip, according to an Egyptian security source.

The fuel would be delivered to the United Nations to facilitate the delivery of aid and would enter Gaza directly without inspection by the Israeli side, the source told Xinhua on conditions of anonymity.

CAIRO, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Yemen's Houthis launched a new batch of drones against sensitive targets inside Israel on Monday, according to a statement from their armed forces broadcast by TV channel Al Masirah.

The statement said the targets of the drones were "varied and sensitive" and led to halting the movement in the targeted bases and airports for hours.

Their calls came after the Israeli occupation army committed a new massacre in the Jabaliya camp, killing and injuring more than 400 people, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
