India: UP CM Adityanath meets Kamlesh Tiwari's family

"My son was killed by a local BJP leader Shiv Kumar Gupta due to a temple land dispute in village. But I am alive and I will kill him,"

Lucknow, Oct 20 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday met the family of Kamlesh Tiwari, chief of a little-known Hindu outfit who was murdered two days ago.

Tiwari's mother, his wife, and three sons spent some 30 minutes with the chief minister at his official residence here.

India: Fake notes of Rs 4.64 L dumped at Delhi Metro station

New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) Fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of the face value of Rs 4.64 lakh have been found in a bag at a Delhi Metro station by CISF personnel, officials said on Sunday.

They said an unclaimed bag containing the FICN was recovered on Saturday evening at the Kashmere Gate station when CISF personnel were carrying out routine anti-sabotage checks at the public transport facility.

The bag, containing Rs 4.64 lakh FICN, was recovered from near the gate no 8 of the station.

India: Pehlu Khan lynching case: Rajasthan govt moves HC against acquittal of accused

Jaipur, Oct 18 (PTI) The Rajasthan government has filed an appeal in the high court here against the acquittal of all six accused in the Pehlu Khan lynching case.

Pehlu Khan and his sons were thrashed by a mob on the suspicion of cow smuggling in Alwar's Behror on Aprli 1, 2017.

Khan had died at a hospital in Alwar on April 3.

India: Savarkar a murderer, says Siddaramaiah

Mangaluru, Oct 18 (PTI) Calling Veer Savarkar a murderer, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed the BJP on Friday for its plan to bestow Bharat Ratna to him posthumously.

He said Savarkar was one of the accused in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, but the charges could not be proved due to lack of evidence and he was freed.

"The murderer of Mahatma Gandhi is getting Bharat Ratna! Those who conspired to eliminate Gandhiji are getting Bharat Ratna!

Indi: Punjab CM wants $20 service fee Kartarpur corridor waved

Chandigarh, Oct 18 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to withdraw the USD 20 service fee imposed by his government on pilgrims visiting the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.

"I appeal to @ImranKhanPTI to withdraw $20 fee imposed by @PakGovernment on pilgrims to Kartarpur Sahib to facilitate 'khulle darshan deedar' of the final resting place of Guru Nanak Ji Sahib. The world Sikh community will be grateful for this gesture on the part of Islamabad," Amarinder said in tweet.

India: Guj CM on 5-day visit to Uzbekistan from Saturday

Ahmedabad, Oct 18 (PTI) Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will head a business delegation on a five-day visit of Uzbekistan from Saturday, an official said.

He would attend the 1st International Investment Forum 'Open Andijan' on Saturday, and then take part in the naming ceremony of a street there after Sardar Patel and unveil a statue of the late leader, he said.

The CM will inaugurate a Cadila Pharmaceuticals plant and a Sharda University campus in Andijan, and meet business leaders in Samarkand city.

India: Filmmaker held on rape charge

Kolkata, Oct 18 (PTI) A renowned filmmaker and theatre personality was arrested here on Friday for allegedly raping an actor-student of his theatre group on multiple occasions since December last year, police said.

The matter surfaced on Wednesday night after the victim took to a social networking website to post her complaint about the alleged crime.

India: Man gets three years RI for molesting five-year-old girl

Thane, Oct 19 (PTI) A local court has sentenced a man from Bhiwandi to three years of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a five-year-old girl in 2013.

District Judge D G Murumkar on Friday convicted Irfan Iqbal Momim (30) under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on him.

India: Woman gang-raped in UP, six booked

Banda, Oct 19 (PTI) Six persons have been booked in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, police said on Saturday.

Station Hose Officer (SHO), Karwi, Anil Kumar Singh said the case was registered on Friday.

The woman was raped around two weeks ago. Four men took the woman to an unknown place on the pretext of dropping her from her college to village. She was gang-raped for two days, the SHO said.
