Jewish National Fund Board to vote on $18m purchase of Palestinian land in Jordan Valley

04 August 2022; MEMO: The Board of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) in Israel is scheduled to vote on the approval of the $18 million allocated for the purchase of Palestinian-owned land, based in the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank.

It comes after the Israeli Defence Ministry and the JNF attempted to buy the portion of land last year, which was halted after receiving international criticism due to the Palestinian who owns it, demanding legal rights to the balance of the land.

Israel detains Quds Press journalist without charge or trial

02 August 2022; MEMO: An Israeli military court sentenced Palestinian journalist Amer Abu Arafa of Quds Press to four months in prison on Monday with neither charge nor trial, his outlet has reported. Abu Arafa is being held under the so-called administrative detention rules, which date back to the British Mandate period.

Israel cuts $176m from PA tax revenue

01 August 2022; MEMO: Israel's security cabinet agreed on Sunday to deduct NIS600 million ($176m) from the customs duties it collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, Maariv has reported. According to the Hebrew-language newspaper, this is the same amount as the stipends that the PA paid to Palestinian prisoners held by Israel and their families last year.

Palestine Accuses Israel Of Ignoring Biden’s Pledges

RAMALLAH, Jul 30 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine, yesterday, condemned the killing of a Palestinian teenager, and accused Israel of ignoring the pledges made by U.S. President Joe Biden.

The Palestinian presidency condemns “the crime committed by the Israeli soldiers” in the village of Al-Mughayyir, north-east of the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Palestinian Presidential Spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh said, in a press statement.

“The Israeli regime bears the consequences of violating all resolutions of international legitimacy and international law,” Abu Rudeineh said.

Palestine: Israel army kills Palestinian boy in eastern Ramallah

29 July 2022; MEMO: Israeli forces killed a Palestinian boy in a village near Ramallah, central occupied West Bank, on Friday, Anadolu News Agency reports.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the 16-year-old teen succumbed to wounds he sustained from Israeli forces in the village of Al-Mughayir.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that Israeli settlers living in a settlement built on the village's land assaulted Palestinians staging an anti-settlement rally.

Palestine: Hamas Denies Having Military Sites In Gazan Civilian Areas

GAZA, Jul 29 (NNN-WAFA) – Hamas, the ruling movement of the Gaza Strip, yesterday, denied Israeli allegations that the movement’s armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, has military sites in civilian areas in the Palestinian enclave.

The Israeli army’s allegations “are pure lies and misinformation,” said Hamas spokesman, Abu Obeida, in a press release.

A day earlier, an Israeli military spokesman accused Hamas of building military sites, infrastructure, and tunnels, under and close to residential areas in the Gaza Strip, which Hamas has ruled since 2007.

The West's policies have caused the displacement of Christians from the East: Archbishop Hanna

27 July 2022; MEMO: The Christian population in Palestine is dwindling because of the catastrophes Palestinians have had to endure and the West's policies in the Middle East, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, head of the Greek Orthodox Church, has said.

Speaking at a symposium on the antiquity of the Christian presence in the East, specifically in Palestine, the Holy Land, Hanna highlighted that Christianity was born in Palestine and apostles set out from there to the West to preach and spread its teachings.

Hamas strongly denies occupation's claims regarding tunnels in Gaza

28 July 2022; MEMO: Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said yesterday that "the images and information broadcast by the Israeli enemy army about the presence of weapons in civilian areas in the Gaza Strip are pure lies and slander."

"The fact that the Israeli enemy spreads these photos expresses the true crisis it is facing with human rights institutions and international bodies," he added.

Israel resumes settlement plans suspended prior to US president's visit

27 July 2022; MEMO: Israeli Interior Ministry's District Planning Committee for Jerusalem on Monday advanced plans for more than 700 new illegal settlement units suspended due to US President Joe Biden's visit to Israel, local media reported.

The committee also accepted the submission of a plan for 1,446 settlement units that would be located between the Jewish settlements of Har Homa and Givat Hamatos.
