Palestine Warns Against Allowing Israeli Settlers To Visit Al-Aqsa Mosque

RAMALLAH, May 15 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine yesterday warned of the consequences of allowing Israeli settlers to visit the compound of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the old city of Jerusalem, during the “Second Jewish Passover” today.

“These plans are an Israeli persistence to perpetuate visiting the Al-Aqsa as something imposed by force, to consolidate its temporal division to divide it spatially,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that, the Israeli regime is responsible for the consequences should a conflict occur.

Irish Foreign Minister 'shocked' by images from Palestinian journalist's funeral procession

13 May 2022; MEMO: A top Irish Cabinet Minister, on Friday, declared himself "shocked" Friday by images of violence emerging from the funeral procession of slain Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh.

Video clips from her funeral procession showed Israeli riot police clashing with mourners and firing tear gas as people carried her coffin outside a Jerusalem hospital.

Palestine: Site of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh's murder becomes a memorial

14 May 2022; MEMO: The site of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh's murder at the entrance to Jenin refugee camp has turned into a memorial for Palestinians.

Since the early hours of Thursday morning, Palestinians have flocked from various places to visit the site where Abu Akleh was shot to lay flowers and pray for her.

Pictures of Abu Akleh were hung on the trees surrounding the area, along with Palestinian flags and a traditional keffiyeh.

Israel police attack mourners at journalist Abu Akleh's funeral procession in East Jerusalem

13 May 2022; MEMO: Israeli police, on Friday, assaulted Palestinian mourners in the funeral procession of slain Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh in occupied East Jerusalem, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli police attacked the funeral procession as it started from the French Hospital in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.

Palestine President blames Israel for Al-Jazeera reporter's killing

12 May 2022; MEMO: Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said on Thursday that Israeli authorities were "fully responsible" for the killing of a veteran Al-Jazeera reporter during provocations in the occupied West Bank and called for an international investigation, Reuters reports.

Shireen Abu Akleh suffered a gunshot wound to the head in Jenin on Wednesday. Al-Jazeera and Qatar, where the news network is based, accused Israeli troops of the killing.

12 May 2022; MEMO: The Israeli army's narrative about the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is "untrue", the Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories (B'Tselem) said yesterday.

"This morning, B'Tselem's field researcher in Jenin documented the exact locations in which the Palestinian gunman depicted in a video distributed by the Israeli army, fired, as well as the exact location in which Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed," B'Tselem tweeted.

Israel moves Palestinian hunger striker to hospital as health critical

11 May 2022; MEMO: Palestinian administrative detainee in Israel, Khalil Awawdeh, was moved to hospital as his health is now critical after his 68-day hunger strike, his lawyer Ahlam Haddad said.

Forty-year-old Awawdeh suffers from continuous headaches, pain in the joints, fatigue, irregular heartbeats, difficulty breathing, is vomiting blood and lossing weight, Haddad said.

He was previously transferred to hospital but then returned to Ramle Prison clinic despite his health condition.

Israel demolishes Palestinian home in occupied East Jerusalem, displaces 35 residents

11 May 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces yesterday demolished the Al-Rajabi family house in occupied East Jerusalem's Silwan neighbourhood, displacing 35 members of the family, witnesses said.

Fares Al-Rajabi, 34, said that 35 residents, most of them children, had been left with no shelter, adding that the staff of the Israeli municipality arrived at 9am, broke the doors, evicted the residents and demolished the three storey house.

Israel shoots dead Al Jazeera journalist during invasion of Jenin

11 May 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces shot dead Al Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh this morning during an invasion of the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said Abu Akleh was shot by a live bullet in the head and rushed to hospital where she was declared dead.

Another reporter, Ali Al-Samudi, was also shot by a live bullet in the back, the ministry said. He was reported to be in a stable condition.
