Palestine: Gaza weaves rugs from recycled plastics

12 April 2022; MEMO: Old plastic bottles and other waste are being collected in Gaza and treated to use to make rugs.

Once collected, the plastic is treated, shredded and turned into small granules which are washed, dyed and dissolved to transform them into the necessary shape to allow for them to be woven into mats and rugs. The mats are then used in mosques, outdoor spaces and in people's homes.

Palestinian Woman Killed By Israeli Soldiers In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Apr 11 (NNN-WAFA) – A Palestinian woman was killed by Israeli soldiers yesterday, in the town of Husan, near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, the health ministry and eyewitnesses said.

Ghada Sbateen, 47, was critically injured, after she was shot with live bullets by Israeli soldiers, and died later at Beit Jala Hospital because of bleeding from a severe cut in her thigh’s artery, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Palestine: Our confrontation of the occupation will not end until we obtain our rights

11 April 2022; MEMO: The Palestinians' confrontation of the Israeli occupation will not end until they achieve their legitimate rights and an independent state, a presidential statement said yesterday.

"The confrontation with the occupation is not over yet, and it will not end without our people obtaining their legitimate rights in their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital," presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in the statement.

Hamas, Fatah Reject Israeli Threats To Storm Palestinian Cities In Northern West Bank

RAMALLAH/GAZA, Apr 9 (NNN-WAFA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Party, yesterday rejected Israeli threats, to storm Palestinian cities and towns, in the northern West Bank.

The two groups’ rejection came, after the Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kochavi gave instructions to intensify preventive measures, in the northern West Bank and strengthen defence efforts in the area.

Israeli forces kill Palestinian militant in West Bank clash

JENIN, West Bank, April 9 (Reuters) - Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian militant in the occupied West Bank on Saturday during a raid in the hometown of a gunman who had carried out a deadly shooting attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

Israeli-Palestinian tensions have soared in the run-up to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, with both sides warning against escalation. Deadly incidents have since surged.

Palestine factions agree to carry out Gaza elections

09 April 2022; MEMO: Six Palestinian factions have agreed to carry out municipal, student and syndicate elections, Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations reported on Friday.

According to the centre, senior official of the Popular Front Osama Haj Ahmed said that Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, the General Command, the Palestinian Initiative and Al-Saiqa Organisation agreed to hold the elections within the coming six months.

Israel violating international laws by banning Gaza patients from travel for treatment: Hamas

07 April 2022; MEMO: A spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Abdel Latif Al-Qanoua said Thursday, that the Israeli authorities continue to flagrantly violate international laws and humanitarian covenants by besieging the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of medical equipment and devices into it, and preventing Palestinian patients from travelling abroad for treatment, as well as practicing medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
