Palestine Urges UN To Contain Israeli Actions At Al-Aqsa Mosque In East Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, Apr 7 (NNN-WAFA) – The Palestinian UN mission, sent memos to the UN, urging an end to Israeli actions against Palestinians in East Jerusalem, Palestine envoy to the UN, Riyad Mansour, said yesterday.

Mansour told the “Voice of Palestine” that, memos were sent to the UN Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, and the UN General Assembly President, “to contain the Israeli violations in the city,” namely the recent Israeli measures and actions against Palestinians during the Muslim month of Ramadan, at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem.

Israeli army chief approves construction of separation wall from Umm Al-Fahm to Jerusalem

04 April 2022; MEMO: Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kohavi, has approved a decision to accelerate the construction of a new apartheid wall from the Salem area, east of the city of Umm Al-Fahm in Israel to the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The Israeli Radio said the concrete wall is similar to the one built in the West Bank.

The separation wall, which began in the village of Salem in the northern West Bank, is the first phase of a new project aimed at annexing more Palestinian lands.

Jordanians condemn attempts to 'liquidate' UNRWA

05 April 2022; MEMO: The High Committee for the Defense of the Palestinian Refugee Right of Return in Jordan yesterday condemned American and Israeli attempts to "liquidate" the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Quds Press reported.

"The idea to modify the mandate of the UNRWA and merge it within the UN High Commissioner for Refugees coincides with calls and campaigns seeking to delegitimise the international Palestine refugee body," the High Committee said in a statement.

53,000 Palestinian children detained by Israel since 1967

05 April 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation authorities have arrested more than 53,000 Palestinian children since 1967, the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees' Affairs said in a statement yesterday.

Abdul Nasser Ferwaneh, the commission's head of Studies and Documentation Department, said that the Israeli occupation deals with Palestinian children like adults, stating that they are subject to the same torture, investigation and detention conditions.

Israel bans Jerusalem Waqf deputy director from Al-Aqsa for 6 months

04 April 2022; MEMO: Israeli authorities yesterday banned the Deputy Director of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Council, Sheikh Najeh Bakirat, from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.

Quds Press quoted local sources as saying  that the occupation's intelligence services summoned Bakirat and interrogated him "before handing him a ban."

Bakirat has been arrested numerous times, banned from entering Al-Aqsa and from traveling over the past few years.

Gaza will respond to Israel's 'crimes', as Tel Aviv says it's ready for new operation

04 April 2022; MEMO: Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza yesterday warned that they would respond to "Israeli crimes," while Israel warned it is ready for a new military operation in the besieged enclave.

"Our people and resistance will respond to any crime committed by the occupation," a joint statement issued by the Palestinian factions in Gaza said. "Our response will be more fierce and stronger," they stressed.

Greek Orthodox patriarchate blasts Israeli takeover of church property

East Jerusalem; 04 April 2022 (UMMN): Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem on Sunday warned that Israeli settlers breaking into a church property in the Old City of Jerusalem could ignite a turbulent scenario.

In a statement reported by Greek City Times, the Israeli organisation Ateret Cohanim broke into the Little Petra Hotel, which the church says it still owns, is illegal and should not be allowed.

Israel settlers' seizure of Jerusalem hotel a 'new crime': Hamas

04 April 2022; MEMO: Hamas yesterday condemned settlers' seizure of Little Petra Hotel owned by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem as a "new crime".

"Hamas rejects and condemns the Zionist extremist colonial groups' seizure of the Little Petra Hotel owned by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which is located in Omar Ibn Al Khattab Square," a statement said.

Israeli troops kill 3 Palestinians in West Bank

Jerusalem, Apr 2 (AP) Israeli forces killed three Palestinian militants in a firefight in the occupied West Bank early Saturday, police said, raising fears of further escalation of violence during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Israeli media said four members of a police counter-terrorism unit of the Israeli police were wounded, one of them seriously. The troops came under fire as they attempted to arrest suspected militants in the northern West Bank.
