Palestinian President Discusses Mideast Tension With Jordanian King, Putin

RAMALLAH, Apr 19 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterday discussed the growing tension with Israel in East Jerusalem, during two separate phone conversations with King Abdullah II of Jordan and Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Abbas exchanged views with King Abdullah over the situation in East Jerusalem, accusing the Israeli police forces of acting “brutally towards the safe worshippers, in flagrant violation of international law and the legal and historical status of the status quo in the holy city.”

Israel closes Ibrahimi Mosque to Palestinian worshippers, holds concert for settlers

19 April 2022; MEMO: Illegal Israeli settlers held a concert at the Ibrahimi Mosque in occupied Hebron yesterday to mark Passover, after occupation forces banned Palestinian worshippers from accessing the Muslim holy site.

The Palestinian Islamic Endowments in Hebron said the Ibrahimi Mosque would close at 10pm on Sunday and would remain closed for two days. This, it said, was a blatant encroachment on its sanctity and a provocative violation of Muslims' right to access their place of worship.

Erdogan condemns Israeli assault on worshippers in Al Aqsa Mosque

18 April 2022; MEMO: Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned on Sunday Israeli assault on worshippersin Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City.

On his twitter, he stated that he had told his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas that he condemned Israel's storming of the mosque and threats to its status.

16 Palestinian journalists detained by Israel

17 April 2022; MEMO: Sixteen Palestinian journalists are languishing in Israeli prisons, according to an Arab human rights group on Sunday, Anadolu reports.

In a statement, the Beirut-based Journalists' Support Committee said eight journalists have already been slapped with jail terms by Israeli authorities.

"Four journalists are held under Israel's policy of administrative detention, while four others are held under interrogation," the statement said.

16 April 2022; MEMO: Egypt's Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has strongly condemned hosting an Israeli music festival at Egyptian army-owned facilities in the Sinai Peninsula, The New Arab news website reported on Friday.

Tolip hotel, located in Sinai, plans to host the Israeli music Nabia Festival as part of the Jewish celebration of Passover.

Palestinians begin strike to protest Israeli killings

15 April 2022; MEMO: Palestinians staged a general strike in the occupied West Bank on Thursday in mourning for the killing of four people by Israeli army forces, Anadolu Agency reports.

Two Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the cities of Ramallah and Bethlehem on Wednesday. Two other Palestinians were fatally shot on Thursday during an Israeli raid in the town of Kafr Dan, northwest of Jenin city.
