India: Minor raped by four men in Mathura, UP

Mathura, Jul 26 (PTI) A minor was raped allegedly by four men in a village here, police said on Friday.

On July 20, the girl fell unconscious after consuming prasad offered by Rahul, Bablu, Dinkush and Hemant, SP (Rural) Aditya Kumar Shukla said.

The four men then took her to a deserted place and allegedly raped her, he said.

India: Body of constable found in UP canal; murdered suspected

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 27 (PTI) The body of a 32-year-old police constable was found in a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, an official said on Saturday.

The constable, Umesh Chowhan, was found dead in Purvi canal near Mundet village on Friday evening, they said.

According to Circle Officer Vinay Gautam, it is being suspected that Chowhan's was killed and the his body was dumped in the canal by the assailants.

India: 6-yr-old abducted and raped in UP, accused held

Aligarh (UP), Jul 27 (PTI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a man in a village here, police said on Saturday.

The girl was sleeping with her family at her house in Palimuqeempur village on Wednesday night when the accused, Bhagwan Singh, abducted and raped her, police said.

The accused was caught with the help of the villagers and handed over to the police, SSP Akash Kulhary said.

Singh has been sent to jail and the girl is undergoing treatment at Jawarharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital here, the SSP said.

India: Electrocution led to ruckus in city' s Talaq Mahal area

Kanpur: A shopkeeper and one ex-gang man of the power department were electrocuted near Talaq Mahal here on Friday late night. The flow of electric current was so powerful that the man pulled on to the cable box.

The area people were shocked to learn of his death and created a ruckus. The police and the PAC reached on the spot. The police got the dead body into possession after giving assurance of compensation.

In the meantime, the area people took the power sub-station team into hostage and overturned the official jeep.

India: 33 arrested in raid at fake call centre in UP

Noida (UP), Jul 25 (PTI) Thirty-three people, including 16 women, have been arrested from a fake call centre here for allegedly duping scores of people on the pretext of providing them loans at low interest rates, police said on Thursday.

The accused were held on Wednesday after a raid was conducted at their office in Sector 3 by teams of Sector 20 police station and Noida Cyber Cell, a senior official said.

India: Girl, 5, raped by neighbour in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Jul 25 (PTI) A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at a village in Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Thursday.

They said the 20-year-old man picked up the minor from outside her home and brought her to his residence in Sujru village, where he raped her on Wednesday evening.

The girl's family reached the man's residence after hearing her cry, but the accused had fled, they added. A case has been registered and police are investigating the matter.

India: Minor gang-raped at gunpoint in UP

Pilibhit (UP), Jul 25 (PTI) A girl was allegedly gang-raped at gunpoint in a village here, police said on Thursday.

Rehan and Mintu of the same village took the minor away from her home on Tuesday night and allegedly gang-raped her, Station House Officer of Bisalpur Harishankar Verma said.

The girl was left with a broken arm when she tried to resist the assault, he said.

She was sent for medical examination and a case registered on the basis of a complaint from the girl's family, the SHO added.

Post-mortem confirms dogs killed cows in UP shelter

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 25 (PTI) The post-mortem report of two cows found dead at a shelter run by a village panchayat here has confirmed the cattle were killed by a pack of dogs, an official said on Thursday.

The death of the cows prompted the district administration to book the village head and a panchayat secretary for alleged negligence.

According to veterinary officer Hemant Kumar, the post-mortem of the cow carcasses was conducted by a three-member panel which found dog attack as the cause of deaths.

India: Jajmau lacks amenities despite politicians' presence

Kanpur: What Jajmau lacks the most is obviously the civic amenities in its inhabited localities. Some areas are very old while there are newly inhabited areas too. Both types of areas are presenting dirty sites, potholed or broken roads and crowds.

The residents are regularly complaining of garbage spread at different spots. The roads are not up to the mark. The rains have exposed the worse condition. Muck and water-logging cannot be avoided.
