India: Lightening kills 32 in UP in one day

Lucknow, Jul 21 (PTI) As many as 32 people were killed in Uttar Pradesh due to lightening on Sunday, said officials.

A day earlier, the lightening had claimed one life in the state, while two others had died of snake bites on July 18 and 20 respectively, the statement said.

Thirteen 13 others were injured due to lightening, the statement added.

India: 'Server' failure irritates customers at bank

Kanpur: "What is a server?" asked a lad at the branch of a nationalised bank at  Jajmau area on Monday. He was definitely confused. His question was very genuine as it has become an easy term for the disruption in the computerised activity.

Without it, the customers cannot afford banking transactions through a computer set. The customers either kill time in wait at the bank or annoy at the delay in completion of the work which remains disrupted due to a networking problem.

India: City prides in selection of two PCS(J) candidates

Kanpur: City earned a credit of producing two candidates who ably succeed in the PCSJ services. One is obviously Tushar Jaiswal and another is Aditi Jain. They were declared successful in the provincial judicial services junior division exam-2018.

India: Man held for raping two minor girls

Ghaziabad, Jul 20 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly raping two minor girls here, police said.

Subhash Yadav, a vegetable seller, was known to the family of one of the girls and he would often visit her house, City Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar.

On July 14, he found the girl 9, and her friend, 10, alone in the house. He lured them to the vegetable market on the pretext of giving them chocolates and raped them there, the officer said.

The Aryanagar legislature approached the electricity headquarters to submit his memorandum highlighting at least ten demands. Wearing a black T-shirt with a logo of danger that is normally displayed on power equipment, he wanted to insist upon the problems persisting in different areas and raised demand for swift rectification.

India: Passengers & patients pay extra at rly canteen and pvt clinic

Kanpur: Just as there is a difference in the rate at the ordinary canteen and the air-conditioned canteen at the platform no 1 of the Central railway station here, so as the difference in doctors' fee is seen at their private clinic existing in the same market at Jajmau here.

Both the doctors hold the same degree but show no mercy to the patients by reducing their respective consulting charges. One doctor normally prescribes medicines equivalent to his fee while another doctor tries to make the patients spend more money than his fee.

India: BJP govt using Section 144 to hide shortcomings: Mayawati

Lucknow, Jul 20 (PTI) BSP chief Mayawati Saturday alleged that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh was using Section 144 to hide its shortcomings and not allowing anyone to visit Sonbhadra, where 10 people were gunned down this week.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) empowers an executive magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than four persons in an area.
