India: 7-year-old raped by cousin in UP

Banda (UP), Aug 9 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by her cousin at a village in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday when the girl along with a friend (6) had gone to a forest area near her village, the police said.

The 27-year-old cousin brother got hold of her and allegedly raped her there, they said.

India: Girl raped by teen in UP village

Pratapgarh (UP), Aug 8 (PTI) A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in a village here, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on July 29 and the FIR was lodged on Wednesday evening, they said.

The girl was at her house along with her grandmother when the 16-year-old accused forcibly took her to a secluded place, where he allegedly raped her, they said.

The matter came to light on August 5 when the accused reached her home and the girl started shouting at him after which he fled away.

India: Administration has derailed in UP, alleges Akhilesh

Lucknow, Aug 7 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday alleged that the vehicle of administration had derailed in Uttar Pradesh.

In a statement issued here, Yadav said, "The vehicle of adminstration has been derailed in Uttar Pradesh. The chief minister may make tall claims, but his control over officials cannot be seen. The law and order situation is poor and health services have crumbled in the state."

India: Missing students' narration dazed parents & police

Kanpur: As many as six students from a prestigious educational institution at Kidwai Nagar area were reported to be missing after the school was over in the afternoon on Wednesday.

The guardians were perplexed, disturbed and clueless. The school management was also in a fix. The police were informed about the incident. The CCTV footage was closely studied. The missing students were seen going out of the school gate at 1:53 p.m. The police made alert at nearby police stations. Police denied it a case of suicide.

India: Guard forbids worshipping pipal tree at IIT

Kanpur: How strange is it that a PhD scholar at the IIT has been stopped to worship the pipal tree by the guards there. More than this he was told to leave the spot. This hurt the student so much that he expressed his emotional pain on Twitter. Other students also expressed their deep protest at this action.

Though the students complained of this behaviour of the guard to the director Prof Abhai Karandikar, nothing in detail was available so far. 

India: Minor raped by teenager in UP

Banda (UP), Aug 5 (PTI) A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in neighbouring Chitrakoot district, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday when the girl, who was playing outside her house, was lured by the 13-year-old and raped, they said.

Family members informed police following which the accused was detained.

Medical report of the girl has confirmed rape.

Security has been beefed up in the locality as the accused and rape survivor belong to different communities, police said.

India: Unnao rape victim accident case: CBI searches multiple locations

New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) The CBI is carrying out searches at multiple locations in connection with the Unnao rape victim's accident case, officials said Sunday.

The details of searches have been withheld as the operation is going on but it is understood that 17 places are being searched, they said.

On July 30, the car in which the victim, who has accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her as a teenager, was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli.

Two of the victim's aunts were killed, while she and her lawyer were critically injured in the accident.

India: Man pronounces triple talaq on wife in UP after talaq bill

Mathura, Aug 2 (PTI) A police station here has booked a man for pronouncing triple talaq on his wife, probably the first such case since the enactment of the law punishing the practice.

The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill prescribing up to three years imprisonment for men giving instant triple talaq to their wives and was passed by Parliament on Tuesday.

President Ram Nath Kovind gave assent to the triple talaq bill on Thursday.
