India: ADG directs subordinates to be humble with victims

Kanpur: Humble-hearted police officers like ADG Prem Prakash has directed the subordinates at different police stations and the office to bring in use the wooden long plate with words like 'May I help you' for the people seeking help in trouble. 

He made it clear that the police officials should maintain humble attitude with the victims as this would enhance the police image. In his directives he instructed them to maintain complete description on the day and night duty charge. 

India: Defunct signal system in city areas irks ADG

Kanpur: A sum of Rs 26400 was collected in vehicle checking drive conducted under the supervision of ADG, Police at various places here on Thursday. 

The high-ranking police officer was making all efforts to bring improvements in the city's traffic system. Showing concern at defunct signal lights on the city's  busy crossings, he directed his subordinates to take necessary steps.

The departments concerned were needed to be made aware of the flaws. He inspected the condition of signal lights at Baradevi, Bara Chauraha, Phoolbagh, Moti Jheel, Juhi and other places. 

india: Muzaffarnagar riots: 3 accused of killing youth get bail

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) A Muzaffarnagar court has granted bail to three persons accused of killing a youth whose death was a trigger for the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.

District Sessions Judge Sanjay Kumar Pachori gave bail to Prahlad, Bishan Singh and Tendu. He said the accused would be released after furnishing two sureties of Rs 1,50,000 each.

According to prosecution, the there are among the six people accused of stabbing Shahnawaz to death at Kawal village in Jansath area on August 27, 2013.

India: BJP MLA's daughter fears for life after marrying a Dalit

Bareilly (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) The daughter of an Uttar Pradesh BJP legislator has alleged that her life is in danger from her father after she married a Dalit man and asked the police for security.

Sakshi Misra (23), who is the daughter of Rajesh Misra, the MLA from Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly district, uploaded a video on social media on Wednesday and informed about her wedding to Ajitesh Kumar (29) last Thursday, police said.

India: 'Tantrik' arrested for raping woman in Balrampur

Balrampur (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) A 'tantrik' was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman here, police said.

The incident occured under Nagar Kotwali police station area of the city when the woman, who had been ill for a few days, was taken to the 'tantrik', Phoolchand, on Monday, Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma said.

Phoolchand had sent her family members out of the room before treating the woman. He allegedly raped her after giving her some intoxicating drug, the SP said.

India: 60 foreigners detained in Gr Noida, face deportation

Noida (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) Sixty foreign nationals were detained and face deportation after police searches in Greater Noida found them staying in the country without valid travel documents, officials said.

Almost all of those held are from eight African countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Ivory Coast and Angola, police said. Twenty-eight of them are women.

India: Woman killed for dowry in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 11 (PTI) A 21-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her in-laws over dowry in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said Thursday.

The woman was found dead at the house of her in-laws in Tisang village under Jansath Police Station on Wednesday, Circle Officer (CO) SN Negi said.

A complaint was lodged against seven people and four of them were arrested the same day, the CO said.

India: NHAI to launch drive against encroahers soon

Kanpur: National Highway Authority of India will clear encroachments  through a drive. In this regard the project director, NHAI, Purushottam Chaudhary said that the encroachments would be removed through launching a drive. Wherever was found encroachment on the national highway, it  could be strongly dealt with. Strict action will be initiated if encroahers extend to its land. 

India: Commuters experience tricks of city bus conductor

Kanpur: The city bus running from Kalyanpur to Jajmau does not slow down at Bada Chauraha as the conductor blames the police for not stopping at the crossing. Whatever it may be the passengers face a lot of trouble in boarding if it happens to stop. The lady passengers as well as the old age commuter it difficult to board the bus. On Wednesday evening it remained a harrowing experience to alight the bus. The bus was not full of passengers but the capped conductor did not mind in catching the passengers on the way to its culminating point. 

Indian Journalist shot at in UP

Shahjahanpur (UP), Jul 8 (PTI) A television journalist was injured after he was shot at by three persons here, police said on Tuesday.

The reporter, Ankit Sharma, was fired at on Monday and admitted to a hospital, Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Tripathi said.

Police suspect personal enmity behind the incident.

A case has been registered against the accused -- Pankaj Gupta, Aman Gupta and Anand Gupta -- and efforts are on to nab them, the SP added.
