Housewives demur check on vegetables' sale at doorstep

KANPUR: Social distancing is good for people but the obstruction in the doorstep delivery of vegetables is not reasonable for housewives. 

Though the residents are strictly following norms set by the district administration,  the housewives, in particular, become irascible and mentally disturbed at hindrance in the availability of very simple things like vegetables to them. They need of everyday need at their place of residence. They cannot venture to go out, as they say.

India: Youngsters enjoying kite flying in lockdown

KANPUR: Kite flying has developed as a time-pass for young and old alike during the pandemic's lockdown days. So long as one's sight reaches, there appears kites flying high in the cloudy or blue sky.

As the youngsters are free from their routine studies they are getting enough time to engage in kite-flying to space on the roof or the terrace while the elders also make it in their free time. 

India: Men face trouble of growing hairs during lockdown

KANPUR:  As there is no likelihood of easing the lockdown period in view of its extension, the people are slowly and steadily depending on home deliveries of essential services like vegetables, fruits and others at the doorstep. What they seriously miss is the facility of barber services at the door.

Usually, the barbers were providing their home services in the past days but they stopped since their union was formed. Haircutting saloons were thus opened everywhere. 

Weather gives flare of heat like that of hot stove

KANPUR: Sunday's temperature rests at 40 degrees Celsius with cloudy sky. There was felt the need of air-conditioned appliance but its use was wrong in view of the virus incursion. 

The medical experts have made sufficient suggestions to strictly avoid AC in order to simply beat the weather heat. 

The people have even accepted valuable advice as several houses having the very facility of the air cooling gadgets are not bringing its use. They think that life is more important than taking dry air of the modern-day equipment.

India: Morning rains, afternoon sunny weather confuse residents

KANPUR: Early morning rain and thunderstorm surprised the denizens on Saturday. Till the afternoon the maximum temperature reached as high as 40 degrees Celsius while the real feel remained at 41 degrees Celsius.

So long as the downpours affected there was quite a comfortable temperature but sooner the warm sunny weather dominated us. The residents began to feel respite from the warmer weather ☀️ by the time clock struck 3:18 p.m. 

India: Eleven migrant labourers on long march back home caught

Uttarkashi, Apr 17 (PTI) Eleven migrant labourers were caught while trying to escape to Saharanpur through forests and a case was registered against a WhatsApp group admin for spreading rumour that they were jamaatis, police said on Friday.

The migrant labourers were caught when they reached a village named Syalna on their way and the villagers informed the police saying some dubious persons had entered the village on foot, Badkot police station SHO D S Kohli said.

India: Child raped in UP by teenager who took her to buy sweets

Noida (UP), Apr 14 (PTI) An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Greater Noida by a 14-year-old boy who lured her on the pretext of buying her sweets, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday in Dankaur area of Greater Noida and the accused boy has been apprehended and sent to a juvenile correction facility, the police said.

India: Minor girl raped by cousin in UP

Banda, Apr 15 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrkoot district, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place under the Markundi police station area Tuesday afternoon when the girl was returning home after handing over lunch to her father who was working in agricultural field, a police officer said.

India: Man shot for coughing during ludo game in UP

Noida (UP), Apr 15 (PTI) Amid fears over the spread of coronavirus, a 25-year-old man was allegedly shot at by another person, following an argument that was triggered by his "coughing" during a game of ludo at Greater Noida, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday at a temple in Dayanagar village under the Jarcha police station limits, where four people, including the man who received gunshot injuries, were playing the board game, they added.
