India: Reading Quran becomes regular habit during Ramazan

KANPUR: Indeed, the holy month of Ramazan is known for the revelation of Quranic verses. The Muslims who observe the fast with compassion do not forget to read the revealed chapters during the whole month as if they connect themselves with the daily recitations.

In the prevailing conditions, the devouts are not able to attend the nearby mosque for extra prayers of Taraweeh, they become steadfast in reading the Quran with all the accuracy at the home.

India: UP farmhouse of Tablighi Jamaat leader raided

New Delhi, Apr 23 (PTI) The Delhi Police's Crime Branch has raided a farmhouse of Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhavli, who was booked for organising a religious congregation here in violation of COVID-19 lockdown orders, officials said on Thursday.

The raid was carried out at Kandhavli's farmhouse in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, they said.

India: BJP's Sitapur MLA asked to explain his criticism of PM Modi

Lucknow, Apr 24 (PTI) A BJP MLA from Sitapur, whose purported audio clip criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral on social media, has been asked by the party leadership to explain his alleged anti-party activities.

"A show cause notice has been served to party MLA from Sitapur Sadar Rakesh Rathore for indiscipline. Complaints were coming against him for his involvement in anti-party activities. He has been given seven days time to explain," a party release quoted BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh as saying.

India: Teenage girl raped by neighbour in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Apr 24 (PTI) A teenage girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the Rasra area here, police said on Friday.

The 16-year-old girl was raped by the neighbour on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Devendra Nath said.

On the complaint of the girl, an FIR was registered against the accused on Thursday and subsequently he was arrested, Nath said.

A probe into the matter is on, he said.

India: Fasting disciplines the devouts significantly

KANPUR: The holy month of the Ramazan in the city begins tomorrow. There goes a tradition: Begin the fast by seeing the new moon and end it also by seeing the new moon. This is followed in strict words.

It is a one-month experience. The devouts stay without the intake of food and water from dawn to dusk. 

When the ninth month of Ramazan starts the Muslims try to exceed their everyday Ibadat in prayers and Quran reciting. Taraweeh is surely the added prayers.

India: UP will allow stranded people to home: Adityanath

Lucknow, Apr 22 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government will allow other states to take their stranded residents home if they wished, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday.

At a review meeting here on the coronavirus crises, Adityanath said the UP government will give permission and cooperate with other states on this.

Uttar Pradesh recently sent buses to bring home its own students stranded in Rajasthan's Kota. Earlier, the government briefly allowed the movement of migrant workers heading back to Uttar Pradesh.

India: Minor Dalit girl raped in UP's Amethi

Amethi, Apr 22 (PTI) A minor Dalit girl was allegedly raped here, police said on Wednesday.

Circle Officer, Amethi, Piyush Kant Rai on Wednesday said, "In the police complaint lodged by the father of the 11-year-old girl, he said his daughter was raped on April 19 by a person hailing from Shitalaganj. A case under various sections of the IPC, POCSO Act and SC/ST Act has been registered at Sangrampur police station".

The girl has been sent for medical examination, Rai said, and added that the accused will be arrested soon.

India: Two girls aged seven and eight raped in UP's Chitrakoot

Banda(UP), Apr 23 (PTI) Two minor girls were allegedly raped by their cousin at a village in neighbouring Chitrakoot district, police said on Thursday.

The girls, aged seven and eight, were playing outside their house on Wednesday afternoon when Balveer Singh (32) allegedly took them to a secluded spot and raped them in a village under the Rajapur police station, SHO Gulab Chandra Tripathi said.

India: Lockdown leaves roads still & empty of vehicles

KANPUR: Lockdown leaves the highway bridge nearly empty of vehicles. The bridge that connects the eastern side to Delhi route finds scant trucks and carriers moving on both sides. Down the bridge the wide road also remains vacant owing to the absence of vehicles and the movement of humans. Even the bird's voice does not echo in the empty afternoon.
