India: April ends as cool month due to distinct reasons

KANPUR: Despite the day remained cloudy on Thursday, the minimum temperature did not cross a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius. There was realised no need for the cooler or better advanced cooling machine. 

This is a big respite for those who are fasting in this month of Ramazan. The devouts did not feel thirsty. They are praying for the weather not being 🔥 hot.

Weather experts attribute the normal temperature to the western disturbances and decrease in the pollution levels.

India: Nephew of BJP leader orchard owner who was shot at dies in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Apr 30 (PTI) A 22-year-old man, who was shot at by unidentified persons when he resisted attempts to steal peaches from his garden in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, has succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Harsh Beniwal, who is the nephew of BJP leader Mohit Beniwal, was rushed to a hospital after the incident occurred at Khera Gadai village in Thana Bhawan area on Wednesday, police said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case registered against unidentified miscreants.

India: Dalit girl raped in UP's Chitrakoot village

Banda (UP) Apr 30 (PTI) A Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old man in a village in Chitrakoot district, police said on Thursday.

The 16-year-old girl has alleged that the man had raped her a month back after giving her some intoxicants and had been blackmailing and raping her since then, SP, Chitrakoot, Ankit Mittal, said on Thursday.

The girl visited the police station with her elder brother on Wednesday after which an FIR was lodged and the youth arrested.

The girl has been sent for medical examination, the SP added.

India: Two temple priests killed in UP, Oppn targets BJP

Lucknow, Apr 28 (PTI) Two priests were found murdered at a temple in Bulandshahr district on Tuesday morning, allegedly killed by a local youth.

Jagdish (55) and Sher Singh (45) were apparently hit with a lathi at Paguana village's Shiva temple in Anupshahr police station area, police said. The alleged killer was arrested.

Opposition leaders targeted the BJP over the crime, with the Congress and the Shiv Sena referring to Uttar Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's reaction after the lynching of two sadhus and their driver in Maharashtra's Palghar recently.

India: Women annoy at gatekeeper's double standard

KANPUR: Lockdown has disciplined the people. They are making all possible efforts to slow the spread of the pandemic. 

When the residents are staying within the gate, there should be no reason in stopping the movement within the enclosed precincts, they believe.

Housewives are strictly adhering to the rule but they remain annoyed with the biased attitude of a certain few. The gatekeeper has developed a habit of disallowing entry to one and permitting others to go inside. This is what wholly irritating old women. They are not tolerating this kind of bias.

India: 11-year-old boy completes his first fast of Ramazan

KANPUR: Where there is a will, there is a way. This is applicable on an 11-year-old boy Mohd Saad Hasan who completed his first fast (Roza) on the third day of Ramazan.

Only 25 Kg in weight he has a lean body. His weakness didn't hamper him from the observance of the fast. He was willing to keep the fast and he did it with his strong will. Though he complained of a slight headache, he did not lose his spirit. 

Not only he completed his fast but also read the Quran. He did not fail to offer prayers.

Lucknow Apr 27 (PTI) BSP president Mayawati on Monday asked the central and state governments to make proper arrangements for food for thousands of poor migrant labourers and also provide financial assistance to them.

Mayawati said it would have been better if the governments made proper arrangements for the millions of people, who are suffering due to the lockdown over the novel coronavirus pandemic, and send them safely to their houses.

India: Youngsters are not shying away from fasting

KANPUR: As people are passing the day under stay-at-home orders in order to stall the spread of coronavirus, the devout Muslims are observing the fasting with equanimity and obligation. 

There is no possibility of relaxation in the lockdown so the month of Ramazan gives the opportunity to the devouts for focus on the prayers in accordance with the ordained rules. Even the youngsters were showing a strong urge to have fasting.

India: No public gatherings in UP till June 30: Adityanath

Lucknow, Apr 25 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh government will not allow any public gathering till June 30, well beyond the end of the current nationwide lockdown, officials said on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has told officials that the situation will be reviewed after June 30.
