Another scam haunts Kanpur Zoo!

Kanpur: Scam after scam surfaces. After scam in construction of Butterfly Park at Kanpur Zoo, there has surfaced another scam in renovation of the pulia in the same area. As many as 16 pulia exist in the zoo, while 12  pulia are to be renovated. There has been estimated a sum of 96 thousand on renovation of one pulia, as was reported. 

The state government has initiated probe into butterfly park scam and now stands another scam. 

India: Mauritian woman, friend looted on Yamuna Epressway

Mathura (UP), Jun 10 (PTI) A Mauritian woman and her Indian friend were allegedly looted by three motorcycle-borne men on the Yamuna Expressway here, police said Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday near Saitgarhi village under Naujhil police station limits, Superintendent of Police, Mathura rural, Aditya Kumar Shukla said.

Plodie Celine and her friend Anup stopped at the expressway after their car broke down. The accused reached there and forced the duo to part with their belongings, Shukla said.

India: Minor abducted, gang-raped in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 11 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two men in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Khandrauli village under Kandhla police station area on Monday. The minor was found lying unconscious in a field, they said.

A case has been registered against two men, identified as Suhail and Soman. They are absconding and efforts are underway to nab them, Station House Officer S K Vishnoi said.

India: Heavy police deployment in Aligarh's Tappal

Aligarh (UP), Jun 10; PTI/GANASHAKTI: An uneasy calm prevailed in Tappal on Monday with a heavy police deployment in the town, a day after it witnessed tense moments.

Police struggled to keep the situation under control throughout the day on Sunday when protestors kept mounting pressure on the authorities for meting out "instant justice" in the murder case of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, which has sparked a nationwide outrage.

India: Vault of Daan-Ghati temple in Mathura sealed

Mathura (UP), Jun 9 (PTI) The vault (khajana ghar) of Daan-Ghati temple here has been sealed and security personnel deployed to guard its treasure on the orders of a court, officials said Sunday.

The authorities also installed CCTV cameras around the vault containing about two crore coins and valuables at the Daan-Ghati temple, which is one of the two main temples of Goverdhan Parikrama.

Sub-divisional magistrate Nagendra Singh executed the court orders in the presence of Deputy SP Kailash Chandra Pandey and Sri Giriraj Sevak Samiti Goverdhan Secretary Rama Kant Kaushik.

India: Woman saves Muslim family from mob in Aligarh

Aligarh (UP), June 9 (PTI) Days after the killing of a two-year-old girl fuelled tension in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district, a 24-year-old woman saved a Muslim family from getting attacked by a mob on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred in Jattari area, over 40 km from here, when the family from Balabgarh, Haryana, was travelling in a van to attend an engagement. They were accompanied by a woman named Puja Chauhan, who was a close family friend, the police said.

India: Body of minor girl found in bushes in UP; FIR registered

Jalaun (UP), Jun 9 (PTI) Body of a 7-year-old girl was found in the bushes outside Bijbaha village in Uttar Pradesh Sunday, police said.

The incident comes close on the heels of the brutal murder of a toddler at Aligarh in the state.

Superintendent of Police Swami Prasad said the minor had gone missing on Saturday.

"The girl's body was spotted by the locals Sunday morning," he said.

A case has been registered against two persons following a complaint by the victim's father, Laakhan Singh, Prasad said.

India: TV channel head, editor arrested for defamation against UP CM

Noida (UP), Jun 8 (PTI) The head of a private television news channel and its editor were arrested here Saturday for allegedly broadcasting defamatory content against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, police said.

During a debate on the channel on June 6, a woman had allegedly made defamatory statements against Adityanath, the police said.

Delhi doctor detained in Kanpur kidney racket case

Lucknow, Jun 8 (PTI) A doctor of a private hospital in Delhi has been detained by the Kanpur police in connection with its probe into a kidney racket, which was busted in February, an official said Saturday.

"Dr Dipak Shukla was detained in Delhi on Friday night and has been brought to Kanpur for investigation," Superintendent of Police (Crime), Kanpur, Rajesh Yadav, told PTI over phone.

Shukla is the CEO of a private hospital in Delhi and was detained by a Special Investigation Team, he said, without elaborating on details of the probe.
