India: Two migrant workers commit suicide in UP due to financial problems

Banda (UP) May 28 (PTI) Two migrant workers who returned a few days ago to the district committed suicide, police said on Thursday.

People close to the two deceased said that both were facing financial problems.

Suresh (22) committed suicide by hanging from a tree in his Lohara village under Mutondh police station area on Wednesday, SHO Mutondh Ramendra Tiwari said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and investigations are on, the SHO said.

India: Rashtriya Brahmin Yuvjan Sabha member booked for 'indecent' remark against Adityanath

Bhadohi (UP), May 25 (PTI) A case has been registered against an office bearer of the Rashtriya Brahmin Yuvjan Sabha for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Facebook, police said on Monday.

Acting on a complaint, Ambrish Tiwari, who is the district president of the outfit in Bhadohi, was booked on Sunday, Koirauna police station incharge Sanjay Rai said.

Efforts are on to nab Tiwari and raids are being conducted. The complaint was filed by Aadya Prasad Yadav, a resident of Azamgarh, the officer said.

India: Lesser Eidi collection disappoints children

KANPUR: Today being the second day of the festival Eid gets at the shadow of lockdown. Limited movement prevails with certain oddities.

The "Eidi" seekers look a little upset with a drop in their collection of the festival gift in the form of new currency notes due to the lockdown.

They rued that the lockdown has a direct impact on the amount. Either they failed to reach their relatives or relatives did not reach them. Some of the near relatives could not turn up owing to the restrictions.

India: 25 booked for gathering at mosque for Eid prayers

Muzaffarnagar (UP), May 25 (PTI) At least 25 people were booked for allegedly gathering at a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district to offer Eid prayers on Monday, police said.

Following information, the police reached the spot in Khatauli town and dispersed the people, Circle Officer Ashish Pratap Singh said.

A case was registered against 25 people under Section 188 (disobedience to order) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as the Disaster Management Act, the police said.

India: UP CM moots two-pronged strategy for migrant workers

Lucknow, May 25 (PTI) In a two-pronged strategy to help migrant workers, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a Migration Commission for their employment in the state and made it clear that any other state that wants labourers from UP has to seek its permission.

With around 25 lakh workers and migrants having returned to the state till Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that a Migration Commission be set up, according to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi.

Nepalese national dies in Indian corona quarantine centre in UP

Maharajganj (UP), May 23 (PTI) A 34-year-old Nepalese national, staying in a quarantine centre near here after his return from Delhi, died of unknown causes on Saturday, said officials.

"Dev Bahadur, a native of Syangja district in Nepal died today morning," said Nautanwa Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jasdhir Singh.

"The cause of his death is being ascertained. He was unwell for the last two days and was undergoing treatment at the Community Health Center here, he said.

India: Tanneries open but small vendors rue limitations

KANPUR: Although the leather industry was given permission to start production on zero pollution principle yet the small traders linked with the business are finding it quite difficult to deliver various ready-made items needed to complete the finished goods.

Lamenting over the lockdown staying for the past two months, one trader said that the tanneries had been opened but we were not able to carry on our supply. One or other drawbacks hinder our movement amid the continuing lockdown.

He further added how could we then celebrate the festival of Eid. 

India: 3 migran workers onboard Shramik Special trains dead

Kanpur (UP), May 23 (PTI) Three persons onboard separate Shramik Special trains lost their lives due to various ailment, officials said here on Saturday.

"Family members of the deceased said all were suffering from serious ailment. The travel history of all the three deceased passengers was taken, Kanpur District Magistrate Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari said.

Giving details about the deceased, he said Naichinalyu Disang (23), a resident of Nagaland, was going from Delhi to Dimapur.
